Soil contamination with heavy metals such as arsenic has harmful effects on human health and agricultural products. Arsenic (AS) is one of the heavy metals which are highly toxic and carcinogenic. This research was conducted to study the effect of organic manure on increasing the Arsenic absorption ability by Cress plant in the greenhouse of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center, Khuzestan, Iran, according factorial experiment based randomized completely design with three replications. Main factor included two levels of organic substance (0 and 10 tons per hectar) and three levels of arsenic concentration (0, 20 and 40 ppm) belonged to sub factor. Mean comparison result revealed increasing arsenic concentration led to increase arsenic accumulation in shoot plant (14.1 ppm), also this trend seems in transfer coefficient trait so cress can be used as a purifier plant to reduce arsenic contamination of the soil. It need to mention by increase arsenic concentration, shoot dry weight decreased (0 ppm arsenic concentration had 20.1 gr per flowerpot but 40 ppm treatments had 0.7 gr). Finally according to contamination symptoms (Necrosis and chlorosis) on cress plant at 40 ppm concentrations and reduced plant shoot dry weight at this concentration, it is recommended to use the cress plant for purification of soil contaminated less than 40 ppm arsenic concentrations. It is noteworthy advised according plant's ability to absorb arsenic and other heavy elements, sowing of this plant as food should be avoided in the contaminated fields. Manuscript profile

BACKGROUND: Organic farming has emerged as important priority area globally in view of growing demand for safe and healthy food and long term sustainability and concerns on environmental pollution associated with indiscriminate use of agrochemicals. Nano fertilizers can be easily absorbed by crops and may exhibit a prolonged effective duration of nutrient supply in soil/crop compared to the conventional fertilizers. OBJECTIVES: Evaluate effect of different level of vermicompost and Nano iron fertilizer on seed yield, its components and leaf area index. METHODS: Current research was carried out via split plot experiment based on randomized complete blocks design with three replications along 2018 year Main plot included three level of vermicompost (V0: nonuse of vermicompost or control, V1: 5 t.ha-1 vermicompost, V2: 10 t.ha-1 vermicompost) was consumed at planting stage. Also subplots consisted four level of Nano iron fertilizer (F0: Nonuse of Nano iron fertilizer or control, F1: 0.002 L.ha-1, F2: 0.004 L.ha-1 and F3: 0.006 L.ha-1 Nano iron fertilizer) was used at 3 to 4 leaves stage. RESULT: According result of analysis of variance effect of different level of vermicompost and Nano iron fertilizer on all measured traits was significant at 1% probability level also interaction effect of treatments (instead biologic yield) was significant at 5% probability level. Mean comparison result of interaction effect of treatments indicated the maximum amount of number of rows per ear (20), number of seed per row (49), 1000 seeds weight (545 gr), seed yield (6000 gr.m-2), biological yield (1939 gr.m-2), harvest index (30%) and leaf area index (5.81) belonged to 10 t.ha-1 vermicompost with 0.006 L.ha-1 iron Nano fertilizer, also lowest amount of measured traits was for nonuse of vermicompost and iron Nano fertilizer or control treatments. CONCLUSION: Consume 10 t.ha-1 vermicompost with 0.006 L.ha-1 iron Nano fertilizer led to achieve highest amount of yield, its components, harvest index and leaf area index and can be advice to farmers. Conducting research on monitoring contaminated fields by heavy metals is necessary in order to achieve sustainable agriculture, increase product quality and keep public health. This study was carried out using split plot experiment based on randomized complete blocks design with three replications during 2014-2015 in Shavor Agricultural Research Center in order to evaluate the effect of cropping systems and different growth stages on arsenic content and other chemical properties of conventional cultivation. The main factor consisted of planting pattern at two levels (rice-wheat and corn-wheat), and the sub-factor included different growth stages in three levels (Tillering, flowering, and maturity). The results of the analysis of variance showed that the effect of cultivation system on concentration of arsenic, cationic exchange capacity, electrical conductivity, soil organic matter, phosphorus concentrations, pH, and concentration of soil lime was significant at 1% level. The effect of different growth stages on all traits except of electrical conductivity (at 5% level) was non-significant. The interaction effects of the treatment on all traits were non significant. According mean comparison rice-wheat cropping system had more arsenic concentration (8.68 mg.kg-1) than corn-wheat cropping system (6.73 mg.kg-1). Comparison of different growth stages showed that soil electrical conductivity decreased over time; therefore, the lowest concentration was found in maturity stage (2.62 ds.m-1) that was affected by continuous irrigation. Arsenic and phosphorus are absorbed via similar system by plants because of they are analog; so low concentration of phosphorus and high concentration of arsenic lead to the activation of the absorption system which results in increased absorption of arsenic compared to phosphorus. Finally use of phosphorus fertilizers based soil test is recommended according standard of soil and water Institute. Manuscript profile

This research was conducted to evaluate the trend of cadmium accumulation in wheat tissue and cultivated soil affected conventional cropping systems and different growth stage via split plot experiment based on randomized complete block design with three replications during 2014-2015 seasonal year. The main factor included two cropping systems (wheat-rice, fallow-wheat) and growth stage at three level (Tillering, flowering and ripening) belonged to subplots. ANOVA results indicated that the effect of different cropping systems and growth stages on soil and crop cadmium concentration traits was significant at 1% probability level, but interaction effect of treatments was not significant, also soil phosphorus content only affect cropping systems at 5% probability level. Compare effect of cropping systems on cadmium accumulation in cultivated soil and wheat tissue have similar trend (Ascending to descending). In other words the rice-wheat cropping system has more amounts of cadmium (1.71 mg.kg-1 in soil and 1.83 mg.kg-1 in wheat tissue) than to fallow-wheat cropping pattern (1.37 mg.kg-1 in soil and 1.32 mg.kg-1 in wheat tissue). Compare cadmium accumulation between soil and wheat crop tissue revealed an opposite trend. Because of leaching and absorb by plants, trend of soil cadmium accumulation from tillering to ripening stage had down trend. But crop cadmium accumulation due to developed biomass and absorb cadmium had risen trend. Finally management fertilizer consumption of cultivated field according result of soil test and use of phosphate fertilizers by attention to the standards of soil and water research institute led to reduced cadmium accumulation in crop tissue.
