        Introduction: Rice bran is a by-product of rice milling industry, that contains considerable quantities of protein, fat, carbohydrate and minerals. According to the chemical composition, rice bran might show suitable physicochemical properties that might have industrial applications.Materials and Methods: In this research protein concentrates were prepared from defatted bran obtained from two varieties of rice (Neda and Tarom) and their chemical composition and physicochemical properties namely protein yield and protein extraction yield, water adsorption index and water solubility index, nitrogen solubility index, bulk density and color parameters were evaluated.Results: Protein yield was in the range of 8.52-8.74(%). Rice bran protein concentrate of  Tarom had higher bulk density (0.24 g/g) and protein concentrates had significant differences in some color parameters.Conclusion: It was concluded that rice bran has the potential to be used as an ingredient in functional food formulations to enhance the nutritional values and functional properties of the product.         Rice bran, as an organic solid waste material, has a high adsorption potential in removal of heavy metal ionsfrom wastewater and can be very effective in treating the industrial wastewater which is the main source of waterand soil contamination with heavy metals. In this study, the efficiency of Cr(III) and Cu(II) removals from heavymetals containing solutions was evaluated. Afterwards by adding rice bran to reaction environment, the amountof metal ions removed by rice bran in acidities, amount of adsorbent used, contact times and different initialconcentrations of ions in wastewater were investigated. The results indicated that with an increase in the solutionpH, the percentage heavy metal ions adsorption by rice bran increased and reach the amount maximum in pH=5.Also, percentage of adsorption was dependent on metal type, so that percentages of Cr(III) and Cu(II) adsorptionfrom wastewater were 84.2% and 89.5% in pH=5, respectively.To increase the wastewater initial concentration,first percentage of adsorption was increased and then it was decreased due to saturation of rice bran particles.According to the obtained results, the calculated saturation capacities of rice bran for Cr(III) and Cu (II) were 71and 78 mg/g-1 respectively. Moreover, percentage of ions adsorption was increased with the increase of contacttime. Due to rapid reaction, 50-60% of metal ions was adsorbed after 5 min from start of reaction. In this study,contact time of 30 min was offered as an appropriate contact time. The experimental data were analyzed usingthe Langmuir and Freundlich models of adsorption.         The aims of this study were to evaluate the probiotic and antibacterial properties of Lactobacillus paraplantarum and Pediococcus pentosaceus isolated from wheat bran and rice bran sourdoughs. For mentioned purpose, survival of the isolates in simulated conditions of gastrointestinal tract, their antagonistic activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coliand Pseudomonas putida as foodborne indicator bacteria, ability of aggregation with E. coli as an infection agent of intestine and profile resistance of these lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolates against some of routine antibiotics and their hemolysis activity were also investigated. Based on the results, the highest sensitivity of the bacterial indicators towards LAB isolates was observed in L. monocytogenes. Furthermore, the highest inhibition of LAB cell-free culture filtrate (CCF) were belonged to L. paraplantarum logarithmic and stationary CCF, against L. monocytogenes and P. pentosaceus stationary CCF, against P. putida. The survival of L. paraplantarum was also significantly (P<0.05) more than the other LAB isolate in pH=3 and 0.3% bile salt. Furthermore, the LAB isolates were resistant to Vancomycin, Sterptomycin, Nalidixic Acid, Ciprofloxacin and Gentamycin antibiotics. Aggregation ability of L. paraplantarum and P. pentosaceus with E. coli were respectively equal to 31.52 and 16.9% and the LAB isolates hadn’t hemolysis activity. Manuscript profile

        فیتات در جیره­های طیور حاوی سبوس برنج (RB) منجر به کاهش عملکرد حیوان و افزایش دفع نیتروژن و فسفر می­گردد. هدف از این مطالعه آن است که مشخص نمود که آیا مشکلات ضد تغذیه­ای مرتبط با در نظر گرفتن مقادیر بالاتر (تا 40 درصد) سبوس برنج در جیره­های طیور را می­توان با مگادُزهای فیتاز مرتفع کرد؟ جوجه­های گوشتی نر 20 روزه (180=n) در 60 قفس با 10 ترکیب جیره­ای در قالب یک طرح فاکتوریل کاملاً تصادفی (5×2) تغذیه شدند. فاکتورهای اصلی شامل دو سطح سبوس برنج (20 یا 40 درصد) و پنج سطح فیتاز (ناتوفوس 500) (0، 1000، 2000، 3000 و 4000 FTU در هر کیلوگرم جیره) بودند. از قفس­های هوشمند استفاده شده و مصرف خوراک و آب روزانه و وزن بدن در 28، 35 و 42 روزگی محاسبه گردید. افزایش وزن و ضریب تبدیل خوراک هفتگی و کُل تعیین گردید. جیره­های مخلوط شده با اکسید کروم از 35 روزگی به حیوانات خورانده شد تا بتوان قابلیت هضم ایلئومی پروتئین خام، فسفر و ماده خشک را تعیین نمود. در 42 روزگی، پس از 12 ساعت گرسنگی، دو پرنده از هر قفس با رعایت موارد اخلاقی کشتار شدند و وزن اندام­های احشایی اندازه­گیری گردیدند. اندازه­گیری خاکستر عاری از چربی استخوان درشت نی و تست تأخیر اُفت به عنوان پارامترهای استخوانی در روزهای 28، 35 و 42 انجام شد. مگادُزهای فیتاز تأثیر معنی­داری بر ارتقای پارامترهای عملکرد رشد نداشتند. اثرات منفی نظیر کاهش در وزن بدن بر افزایش زمان تأخیر اُفت تأثیر داشته و افزایش خاکستر درشت نی نیز این موضوع را تأیید می­نمود. فیتاز به صورت معنی­داری قابلیت هضم پروتئین خام را بهبود بخشید. سطح بهینه برای بهترین قابلیت هضم پروتئین خام با 20 و 40 درصد سبوس برنج در جیره به ترتیب برابر با 3000 و 4000 FTU به ازای هر کیلوگرم جیره بوده است. مقادیر قابلیت هضم فسفر و ماده خشک نیز تحت تأثیر قرار گرفت. افزودن مگادُزهای فیتاز قابلیت هضم پروتئین خام ایلئومی را بهبود بخشیده ولی عملکرد رشد و وضعیت استخوان را ارتقا نبخشیدند. مگادُزهای فیتاز اثرات شدید افزودن 40 درصد سبوس برنج به جیره­های گوشتی را مرتفع ننمودند.         گزارش شده که اسید سیتریک راندمان استفاده از فیتات باند شده جیره‌ای و پروتئین را افزایش می‌دهد. موضوع این مطالعه تعیین اثرات اسید سیتریک روی عملکرد رشد و ابقای موادمغذی جوجه‌های گوشتی تغذیه شده با جیره‌های حاوی دو سطح فسفر غیر فیتاته و سبوس برنج بود. 144 قطعه جوجه گوشتی در 48 واحد آزمایشی، یکی از هشت جیره آزمایشی حاوی دو سطح سبوس برنج (20 یا 30 درصد)، اسید سیتریک (0 یا 2 درصد) و فسفر غیرفیتاته (25/0 یا 35/0 درصد) را به طور آزاد از روزهای 21 الی 42 در یک طرح کاملاً تصادفی در قالب آزمون فاکتوریل 2 × 2 × 2 دریافت کردند. ابقای ازت، فسفر، مواد معدنی و ماده خشک با استفاده از یک آزمایش جمع‌آوری کل تعیین شد. مصرف خوراک، افزایش وزن، ضریب تبدیل خوراک و اوزان پر، کبد، سنگدان و پانکراس به طور معنی‌داری توسط سطوح جیره‌ای سبوس برنج، اسید سیتریک یا سطوح فسفر غیرفیتاته تأثیر نپذیرفت (05/0P>). ابقای ازت، فسفر و ماده خشک توسط سطوح سبوس برنج، اسید سیتریک، فسفر غیرفیتاته یا اثرات متقابل آنها تأثیر نپذیرفت (05/0P>). اسید سیتریک در سطح 2 درصدی ابقای مواد معدنی سبوس برنج در سطح 30 درصدی را در مقایسه با سطح 20 درصدی بهبود داد (05/0P>). محتوای خاکستر استخوان درشت‌نی بالاتری وقتی جیرها دارای 2 درصد اسید سیتریک و 35/0 درصد از فسفر غیرفیتاته بود، مشاهده شد (05/0P>). نتیجه اینکه، 30 درصد سبوس برنج اثرات سویی روی عملکرد رشدی جوجه‌های گوشتی از روز 21 الی 42 نداشت. اسید سیتریک در سطح 2 درصدی اثرت سودمندی در سطوح جیره‌ای سبوس برنج در سطح 20 یا 30 درصد یا سطوح فسفر غیرفیتاته 2/0 یا 35/0 درصد ایجاد نکرد.              In order to examine and determine the best and the most effective diet for Artemia, Artemia Franciscana was fed under laboratory conditions using three sources of diet: T1: rice bran concentrate enriched with yeast, T2: Nannochloropsis oculata, T3: the combination of rice bran concentrate enriched with yeast and Nannochloropsis oculata in three treatments and three replications for 14 days. The results of the three treatments were compared. At the end of the period, in the third treatment by removing 1962 grams of Artemia biomass and survival rates of 85/71%, the best condition was observed. There was significant difference between treatments one and two, with the biomass of 1778 g and 1621 g, and survival rates of 78/18% and 71/82%, respectively and treatment three dietary by the combination of rice bran concentrate enriched with yeast and Nannochloropsis algae. According to the results obtained it can be proved that the diet resulted from agricultural waste coupled with adequate amounts of from single-cell algae and yeast will suffice to increase production of Artemia biomass and reduce costs associated with building diets for rearing Artemia and its use for aquaculture, and there is no need for costly mass production of single cell algae.          This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different levels of rice bran on performance of laying hens. Experiment was done on two hundred and fifty six laying hens in a completely randomized design with four treatments and four replications during 8 weeks. Egg production mean and egg weight were weighted daily. Egg mass production and used diet weight were also weighted weekly. Treatments were the levels of rice bran Inclusion including, 0, 5, 7.5 and 10 percent. Result showed that performance of laying hens was not significantly affected by inclusion of rice bran up to 7.5 percent, whereas egg production, egg mass and feed conversion were negatively affected by 10 percent of rice bran. Egg quality was not significantly affected by inclusion of different levels of rice bran in laying hens diet. It was concluded that, rice bran can be used as an alternative feedstuff in diet at inclusion levels up to 7.5 percent without negative effect on laying hens performance and egg quality.
