Investigating the effect of mental workload on managers' control performance while covariating the personality characteristics was the aim of the current experimental research. The statistical sample included 21 randomly selected of staff managers in Isfahan Province Gas Company. In addition to presenting the NEO Personality questionnaire (Casta & McCrea, 1992), the participants'control performance in response to managerial tasks (researcher made) in different situations of mental workload with different manipulated timing were measured. The results of repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant effect of mental workload on control performance. While covariating the characteristics of extroversion, openness and agreeableness from the process had a profound change and resulted in non-significant effects (P=0.480, P=0.731, and P=0.623, respectively). Based on the results, it is possible to predict performance of managers on the basis of their mental workload and their personality characteristics more precisely. Manuscript profile

T This study aimed to examine the mediating role of self-esteem in the relations between big five factor personality traits and psychological well-being. The sample consisted of 327 undergraduate students (148 males ,179 females) of Shahid Chamran University located in Ahvaz. The participants were selected using multi-stage cluster sampling. The participants completed the Big Five Factor Personality Scale (FFPS; Goldberg, 1999), the Self-Esteem Scale (SES; Rosenberg, 1965) and the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS; Ryff, 1989). The results indicated that the traits of extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness (P<0.01) and conscientiousness (P<0.001) had direct and positive effects on the psychological well-being, and the trait of neuroticism (P<0.001) had direct and negative effect on the psychological well-being. The big five factor personality indirectly related to more psychological well-being through self-esteem. The findings suggest that self-esteem play a mediatory role between big five factor personality and psychological well-being. These findingss emphasize the importance of big five personality traits in promoting self-esteem which in turn increases students’ psychological well-being. Manuscript profile

The aim of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between personality traits and counterproductive academic behavior through perceived control. The participants were 294 university students selected by multistage random cluster sampling method from Shiraz University. The participants completed the Big Five Factor Scale (Goldberg, 1999), the Spheres of Control Scale (Paulhus, 1983), and the Counterproductive Student Behavior Scale (Rimkus, 2012). The results indicated that the model had good fit indices. There were direct effects of extroversion and conscientiousness on counterproductive academic behavior. The extroversion and conscientiousness had an indirect effect on counterproductive academic behavior through perceived control. The findings suggested that conscientiousness and extroversion predicted perceived control and in turn perception of control determined level of counterproductive academic behavior. Abstract: This descriptive research was accomplished to study relationship between learning cognitive approaches and big five personality factors with critical thinking attitude of students. 345 undergraduate students of Tabriz University who were studying in the spring semester of 2009 were chosen by the multi-stage cluster random sampling method. Kolb Learning Style Inventory, NEO-PI Inventory (60 item), California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory were administered. ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression statistical methods were used for analyzing data in SPSS 11.5 software. Abstract conceptualization cognitive approach (β=0.26) and three personality factors of Neuroticism (β=-0.74), Openness (β=1.03) and Conscientiousness (β=0.62) predicted 0.39 variance of critical thinking attitude (P<0.01). There were significant correlations between Extraversion (r=0.36), Openness (r=0.33), Conscientiousness (r=0.44), Agreeableness (r=0.30) and Neuroticism (r=-0.42) to critical thinking attitude (P<0.01). There were positive correlation between Neuroticism and concrete experience and reflective observation cognitive approaches (P<0.01, 0.05); This relationship was negative with active experimentation and abstract conceptualization cognitive approaches (P< 0.05). There was negative correlation between Extraversion and concrete experience (P<0.05); This relationship was positive with active experimentation approach (P< 0.01). There was negative correlation between Conscientiousness and reflective observation (p<0.05); This relationship was positive with active Experimentation (p<0.01). There was negative relation between Openness and active experimentation (P<0.05). Also, there was a relationship between learning styles and personality factors of Neuroticism, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness (P< 0.01, 0.05). Manuscript profile
