A criticism on Imam Hussain Square design Human settlements are filled with memories. Sometimes these memories are personal and sometimes they have collective nature. Collective memory is a memory shared between group members and is formed in a social framework, a place context, and through the time. These memories would fill the space with meanings and through them, a space would become a place and a place would become a meaningful, memorable and valuable place. Today many place-based researches have emphasis on the importance of narration and memory in cities. In this approach the city is considered as a dairy of place collective memories. These memories which are rooted in context of urban places and can form strong bonds between people and places, have important role in formation of people’s place-identity and sense of belonging to place. Having regard for or ignoring these memories (and memorable elements tied with them) in urban interventions, can strengthen or weaken people’s sense of belonging to place and their place identity. This can lead to numerous consequences and results. Vanishing of memories may cause identity crisis and mental-psychological disease. Most of researches with the subject of place collective memory are focused on the formation of collective memories in city and its effective criteria. But recording and transition of those memories for the future and posterity are given less consideration. Confrontation of people with urban reminders help them to remember memories of the past events. These reminders as forms, functions and meanings would help people to remember urban memories and narrate (tell the story of) the city past. These reminders are considered as mnemonic aids. But some urban interventions regardless of these memory reference points, would remove city narration consciously or unconsciously. Interventions which would make our cities generic, without any memory, history or important feature. Imam Hussain square intervention plan has been accomplished in 2012 with the approach of maximum changes and today after four years its results could be analyzed. Current research is pursuing the analysis of urban intervention in Imam Hussain Square to see how it pays attention to place collective memories through protection and strengthening of urban reminders. This research combines existential and First-person phenomenological approaches. With a qualitative Analysis method, it uses content analysis combined with expert analysis. Through the research various gathering information techniques are employed, such as deep interviews, structural interviews with open questions, and expert observations. The results show that the new design has not succeeded in attention to urban reminders and has failed in using numerous capacities, available in this historic place. Except few cases, this intervention not only has no attention to forgotten place-memories and urban reminders, but it also has weakened and destroyed the existing reminders. Even new urban reminders which are erected in this design have not bonded properly with place history and memories. Current research emphasizes the importance of place collective memories and reminding these memories. A pattern for analyzing different types of urban reminders (through analytical map) is introduced. Manuscript profile

3 - Usage of Multiple Qualitative Decision-Making Method of "DEX Expert Decision" in Architecture and Urbanism

Multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is a sub discipline of operations research that explicitly evaluates multiple conflicting criteria in decision making. MCDA are well known acronyms for multiple-criteria decision making and multiple criteria decision analysis; Stanley Zionts helped popularizing the acronym with his 1979 article " MCDM – If not a Roman Numeral, then What?", intended for an entrepreneurial audience. MCDM is concerned with structuring and solving decision and planning problems involving multiple criteria. The purpose is to support decision-makers facing such problems. Typically, there does not exist a unique optimal solution for such problems and it is necessary to use decision maker's preferences to differentiate between solutions. "Solving" can be interpreted in different ways. It could correspond to choosing the "best" alternative from a set of available alternatives, where "best" can be interpreted as "the most preferred alternative" of a decision-maker. Another interpretation of "solving" could be choosing a small set of good alternatives, or grouping alternatives into different preference sets. An extreme interpretation could be to find all "efficient" or "nondominated" alternatives. Many "Multiple Criteria Decision Making" (MCDM) methods are available, which are often implemented by specialized decision-making software. One of the most important methods is the DEX method. DEX (Decision EXpert) Analytic Hierarchy Process is a qualitative and simple method that used to make decisions in situations where conflicting decision making criteria deal with difficult to make choosing between options. This method was first proposed by a Slovenian research group in 1983 and it has been used in many fields of science, including industry, health and housing up to now. DEX facilitates the following: - Acquisition of decision models, which are composed of: a hierarchy of attributes, and the corresponding utility functions that are defined by decision rules; - Consistency checking of decision rules; - Acquisition, evaluation and analysis of options; - Explanation of the evaluation results; - Group decision-making support. This article is extracted from the thesis "Design of Persian Miniature House with an Approach to Applying the Mystical Attitude of Iranian Painting". It has also tried to test the DEX method in the area of architecture; for this purpose, it is used in the site locating section. To select a site from existing sites, It needs components that are in line with the project approach and use. These are presented in the body of the article as an example. Now, in this context, can DEX be the target's answer? In this paper, a specific usage of this method is examined with an example of architecture, i.e. in selecting the appropriate location for the design of the project. The obtained results show that the DEX hierarchical analysis process method, which is done today with the help of software, regarding to be simple, flexible, using qualitative criteria and also the ability to review adaptability in judgments, can be used in simple issues, such as selecting a machine, to more complex issues such as the choice of land in architecture and urban projects, and to achieve the desired result. Today, culture is one of the urban capital and creating urban spaces base on cultural infrastructure is a great challenge in large cities. Many urban spaces due to numerous problems, have confronted inefficiency and stagnation of urban life. This issue has ended up with fewer attractiveness in spaces. Moreover, it may seem that the regeneration of urban spaces with a focus on culture, can solve existing challenges and somewhat leads to reduce the same risks of urban spaces. Therefore, it becomes crucial to recognize the concept of culture-led regeneration and its influential components and principles on urban spaces. This study attempts to extract and analyze the principals involved in the success of the culture-led regeneration process of urban spaces by examining the concepts, theories and data obtained. This developmental-applied study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach to research. The research is also qualitative. Samples of the study were collected purposefully and data were analyzed through content analysis and estimation based on the generalized linear model. Research findings show that the culture-led regeneration process of urban spaces, tries to prepare urban spaces to achieve a long-term of a public space through five components including improving civic identity, sustainable development, city branding (promoting urban competitiveness), capital enhancement and placemaking. Based on findings, this goal will be achieved by applying seven principles including tourism and event-led development, cultural development, promotion of urban properties, making image and place based on distinct advantage, urban environmental quality, civil society, and the optimum economic structure. Abstract     Currently, there is a recent issue that has arisen among the Iranian athletes is the perspective of the superiority of foreign goods in Iran. This study aimed to qualitatively analyze the tendency of athletes to purchase Iranian sporting goods. In this study, which was a qualitative study, the data was obtained by relying on grounded theory and based on qualitative in-depth interviews with athletes of Ardabil province. The population included all the elite athletes of the province, who were selected by purposeful sampling and snowball method, and 22 athletes were recruited as the statistical sample. The data were analyzed in three coding levels of open, axial, and selective. In the analysis of five concepts of causal conditions (five categories), intervening conditions (five categories), contextual conditions (five categories), strategies (six categories), and consequences (three categories), the Strauss and Corbin coding framework (2014) was used. In general, the results in the form of a qualitative model showed that according to the causal conditions and the requirement to encourage athletes to purchase Iranian sporting goods, as well as considering the intervening conditions and the context of the study, these beliefs can be developed via some strategies such as combating the smuggling of sporting goods or improving the quality of domestically produced sporting goods. Overall, this study supports the idea that by increasing sports production in Iran, it is possible to boost the trade-in sporting goods, and by neutralizing economic sanctions and creating national solidarity, this trade can be supported to see a tendency in athletes under the title: Preferring to purchase domestic sporting goods, instead of foreign ones.   Manuscript profile
