The purpose of the present study was to determine the level of relationship between family communication patterns (conversation orientation and conformity orientation), and attachment styles (secure, insecure-ambivalent and insecure-avoidant) in female students of Andimeshk Islamic Azad University. The population comprised all the female students studying in Islamic Azad University, Andimeshk branch, out of whom a sample of 322 girls was selected using a random multistage sampling. The research employed descriptive-correlational method. The research’s data gathering tools included Koerner & Fitzpatrick Family Communication Patterns Questionnaire (children's version) (2002), Attachment Styles Questionnaire by Kolinz & Reed (1990) and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (revised version) (2002). Pearson correlation analysis and step-wise regressions were used in order to analyze the data. Results indicated that conversation and conformity orientation and happiness are significantly and positively correlated to one another. Moreover, there existed significant and positive relationship between secure attachment style and happiness; whereas, significant and negative relationship was observed between avoidant and ambivalent attachment styles and happiness. Furthermore, according to the results of step-wise regression analysis, secure attachment styles, conversation orientation and conformity orientation are the best predictors of happiness, respectively. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between family anxiety and self-care mediated family patterns in women with diabetes. The method of this research is descriptive correlational which identifies the relationship between research variables. The statistical population of this study included all diabetic women in Tehran, which is reported by the Association of Diabetes, which is 2800 people. The method of this research was randomly clustered and the number of sample groups according to Morgan table was 338 people. The Glasgow and Tubert Diabetes Self-Care Questionnaire (1994), the Christensen and Salavi Couples Pattern Patterns Questionnaire (1984) and the Healthy Anxiety Questionnaire for the Sickookis and Warwick (2002) Health Questionnaire. Multiple regression analysis and path analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings of the research indicate that the direct effect of health anxiety on self-care (0 117) is significant at the level of 0.05. The indirect effect of health anxiety on self-care (-0.21) is significant through a constructive interaction at the level of 0.01. Therefore, under the component of interacting constructive variable, communication patterns play the role of mediating between health anxiety and self-care. The results of the research showed that there is a relationship between self-care anxiety and mediation of family communication patterns in women with diabetes. Manuscript profile

AbstractThe present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the development of a causalmodel of exam anxiety based on family communication patterns and parental perfectionismwith the mediation of learning styles and its effectiveness on students' exam anxiety. Thestatistical population was 9th grade male students of Kermanshah city in the academic yearof 1400-1401 (6578 people), of which 338 people were selected using multi-stage clustersampling method and random method. And in the second study, 30 people (15 people in theexperimental group and 15 people in the control group) were selected using the stagedcluster sampling method. The experimental group received 8 sessions of 90 minutes and thecontrol group did not receive any training. The measurement tools were Ahvaz TestAnxiety Questionnaire (TAI), Koerner and Fitner Patrick Family Communication Patterns(RFCP), Ahvaz Perfectionism (APS) and Kolb's Learning Styles (LSI). The findingsshowed that family communication patterns and parents' perfectionism and learning styleshave a significant causal relationship with exam anxiety. And finally, the results determinedthe mediating role of learning styles in the relationship between the mentioned variables, and it was also found that the educational program developed based on the extracted modelwas effective in reducing exam anxiety. Based on the findings, it is suggested to use theprogram of teaching family communication patterns, parental perfectionism and learningstyles to reduce students' exam anxiety. Manuscript profile

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of family communication patterns, internet addiction and academic adjustment. The type of research was applied in term of purpose and descriptive correlation in term of implementation. Statistical population included high school students from fourfold restrictions of Ahwaz. Among them 359 students, both boys and girls from 1 and 3 restrictions were chosen as sample by using stage randomized sampling method. Adjustment questionnaire (Sinha & Sing), the Young Internet addiction questionnaire and revised relationships family patterns communication scale of Koerner & Fitzpatrick were employed in this study. The research findings indicated that there is a significant correlation between orientation of conversation, orientation of conformity, internet addiction and adjustment (educational, emotion and social) (P≤0.01). Whereas the educational and social adjustment were not significantly correlated with orientation of conformity (P≤0.05).  On the other hand, the orientation of conversation and internet addiction were able to predict the adjustment between students. Therefore, in the process of adjustment, it is necessary to consider the role of family communication patterns and internet addiction. Manuscript profile

Today, the increase of social interactions among members of society through virtual social networks has provided a good opportunity to adapt and connect with others, create social participation, social acceptance and prosperity. Accordingly, the main purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between mobile-based virtual social networks and citizens' social health according to Habermas's public domain approach. The statistical population of the study was citizens living in the northern and southern regions of Tehran, and 550 citizens were randomly selected and surveyed. In order to measure social health, the Keys scale and the communication pattern scale were used and the phytonerpatric and Richie matching was used to examine the communication patterns in the family. According to the results of the study, there is a positive and significant relationship between the use of virtual social networks and the level of social participation and social adaptation of 0.13 and 0.10, respectively. In addition, the findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between the use of virtual social networks and citizens' social health with correlation coefficient (r = 0.14 and sig = 0.001). Accordingly, social interactions resulting from active presence in virtual social networks create a sense of participation and adaptation to one's own groups, thus strengthening and enhancing people's social health. The objective of this study was to examine the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between family communication patterns and the achievement motivation. For this purpose, 370 BA students of Kerman Farhangian University were selected by cluster sampling method and responded to Hermens’ Achievement Motivation Questionnaire (1970), Resilience Scale (Connor & Davidson, 2003), and Family Communication Patterns Questionnaire (Fitzpatrick & Ritchie, 1994). For data analysis, path analysis and t-test were used. The results showed that conformity has a significant negative correlation with resilience, and resilience and conformity have direct effects on the achievement motivation. The findings revealed that resilience has a mediating role in the relationship between conformity and motivation. Additionally, resilience is higher among males compared to females, but in the area of family communication patterns and motivation, no differences were found among females and males.          This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of emotional maturity in the relationship between family communication patterns and empathy. Three hundred students (179 females, 121 males) were selected by multistage random cluster sampling method .The participants completed the Family Communication Patterns  Questionnaire (Fitzpatrick & Ritchie, 1994), the Emotional Maturity Scale (Singh & Bhargava, 1974), and the Empathy Scale (Mehrabian & Epstein, 1972). The results of simultaneous multiple regression indicated that: a) dimensions of family communication patterns were the positive and significant predictor of empathy, b) the conversation orientation was negative and significant predictor of all components of emotional maturity, c) the conformity orientation was positive and significant predictor of emotional instability and social maladjustment, and d) the emotional maturity partially mediated the relationship between family communication patterns and empathy. Given the strong role of the conversation orientation in predicting empathy, it is argued that educating and promoting conversation orientation may increase the emotional maturity and empathic behavior in families.   Manuscript profile

The aim of the current research was the prediction of self-compassion based upon family communication patterns with mediating role of coping strategies for stress. In this study, 347 students (141 male and 206 female) from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling, then they responded to family communication patterns Instrument (Fitzpatrick & Ritchie, 1994), Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (Calsbeek, Rijken, Henegouwen & Dekker, 2003), and Self-Compassion Scale (Raes, Pommier, Neff & Van Gucht, 2011). The results of multiple regression analysis according to Baron and Kenny's steps showed that the conversation is a positive predictor of self-compassion, but the conformity have negative effect on self-compassion; conversation predicts the problem-focused coping strategy positively but it could not affect Emotion-Focused and avoidance strategies. However, conformity negatively affects problem-focused coping strategy and have a positive effect on emotion-focused and avoidance strategies. In addition, the findings revealed that the problem-focused coping strategy would predict self-compassion positively, but predicts emotion-focused and avoidance strategies negatively. Finally, the results showed that coping strategies for stress play a mediating role in the relationship between family communication patterns and self-compassion. Manuscript profile

This study examined the mediating role of emotional expressiveness in the relationship between academic buoyancy and family communication patterns.Five hundred and four students (261 girls, 243 boys) were selected from high school of Shiraz, Iran using multi-stage random cluster sampling. The participants completed the Revised Family Communication Patterns Questionnaire (Fitzpatrick & Ritchie, 1994), the Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990), and the Academic Buoyancy Questionnaire (Dehqanyzadeh et al, 2014). The results of path analysis indicated that the model had a good fit to the data. The family communication patterns had a significant direct and indirect effect on students' academic buoyancy. The conversation orientation had a significant positive direct effect on academic buoyancy. The conversation orientation   increased academic buoyancy indirectly through increasing positive emotional expressiveness and decreasing negative emotional expressiveness. The conformity orientation decreased academic buoyancy indirectly through increasing negative emotional expressiveness. The findings suggested that emotional expressiveness had a mediating role in the relationship between family communication patterns and academic buoyancy. Manuscript profile

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of moral identity (with two dimensions of internalization and symbolization) in the relationship between family communication patterns (with two patterns of conversation orientation and conformity orientation) and happiness. Participants were 308 undergraduate students (125 women and 183 men) of Shiraz University selected by random multistage cluster sampling method. For data gathering, revised version of Family Communication Pattern Questionnaire (Koerner & Fitzpatrick, 2002b), Moral Identity Scale (Aquino & Reed, 2002), and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (Argyle, 2001) were used. The findings showed that conformity orientation and conversation orientation were significant negative and positive predictors of happiness, respectively. The symbolization of moral identity could predict happiness positively and significantly. Between the two dimensions of moral identity, only moral symbolization played a mediating role between variables of family communication patterns and happiness. Conversation orientation was a positive significant predictor of happiness indirectly through symbolization of moral identity as a mediator variable. According to these results, it can be concluded that increasing conversation orientation of family leads to an increase in children's symbolization of moral identity and happiness. Manuscript profile

The aim of this study was structural model of family communication patterns on academic performance by mediating identity styles in students. Correlation research method was structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study included all male students of ninth grade in Ghaemshahr city in the second semester of 2018-2019. In this study, 330 people were selected as the available sample size (considering that all students participated in English language classes). In order to collect data, Fam and Taylor Academic Performance Questionnaire (EPT), Berzonsky Identity Style Scale (ISI-6G) were used. Structural equations with SPSS18 and AMOS23 software were used to analyze the data. The results showed that parental perfectionism, family communication patterns, perceived psychological pressure, resilience, procrastination and identity style had a direct and significant effect on academic performance and also indirect effect of parental perfectionism, family communication patterns, perceived psychological pressure, resilience and procrastination mediated by identity style on academic performance were confirmed. The present study indicates the importance of cognitive factors such as perceived psychological pressure, identity style, resilience, parental perfectionism and prioritisation and social factors such as family communication patterns in explaining academic performance.
