Cancer is one of the most important causes of death worldwide. On the other hand, the therapeutic use of medicinal plants has increased during recent years. For this purpose, the aim of the present research was to investigate the effect of a Cordia myxa fruit extract on cellular proliferation and apoptosis gene expression (BCL-2 and BAX) in lung cancer cell line (A549). The plant was collected and Hydroalcoholic extract was prepared by macerating method. Various concentrations of Cordia myxa extracts (of 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4 mg/mL) obtained to treat lung cancer and fibroblast cell lines. Cells were examined by MTT-assay and Real Time RT-qPCR to determine the plant extract-induced cytotoxicity in cell lines with and without treatment The results showed that, the concentration of ≥2 mg/ml extract had a significant lethal effect on cancer cells. The expression of BAX gene in the treated cell line increased and the expression of BCL-2 gene decreased compared to the control. The extract of Cordia myxa fruit didn’t show toxicity effects when used in low concentrations. However, this extract demonstrated the lower cytotoxicity against normal fibroblast cells. The combination therapy can be less toxic if both (plant extract and chemotherapeutic agent) use to treat cancers. It can be useful with fewer side effects of chemotherapeutic agents. Premature ovarian failure (POF) is known as a heterogeneous disorder that leads to amenorrhea and ovarian failure before the age of 40 and causes infertility in young women. Herbal Medicines is traditionally used to treat hormonal problems in women. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Chaste tree fruit hydro alcoholic extract on ovarian function and body weight of mice after POF induction in mice. In this study, 50 mice were divided into five groups (n=10) including the vitex group, POF and three experimental groups (creating POF model and gavage of vitex extract). After the effect of the extract, the ovarian tissue was studied with hematoxylin-eosin staining, and follicular count and serum level were checked. The results showed that the number of follicles, corpus luteum, and body weight of mice in the POF group were significantly reduced. Also, the serum level of FSH hormones increased in the POF group and the E2 hormone decreased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05), which indicates the correct creation of POF models. After gavage of extract in POF mouse models, the serum level of hormones was adjusted and the number of ovarian follicles increased. The results of the study showed that vitex extract in the highest tested dose has positive effects on the number of follicles, body weight and sex hormones of mice in premature ovarian failure syndrome. Basil is one of the important plants belonging to the mint family, which is used as a medicinal plant, spice, and also as a fresh vegetable. In order to study the relationship between leaf yield and agricultural traits, 22 basil genotypes were evaluated on the basis of split plot design based on randomized complete block design with three replications in pots under field conditions. The main plot included drought stress in three levels (normal, moderate and severe stress) and the subplot included genotype (22 levels) and agricultural traits were measured. Correlation of traits in all three conditions showed that leaf yield had a positive and significant correlation with the traits of stem fresh weight, number of leaves, length and width of leaves. Considering the leaf yield as a dependent variable and performing a stepwise regression analysis in normal conditions (stem wet weight, number of leaves and leaf width in the first stage, respectively), moderate drought stress conditions (stem dry weight in the first stage) ) and severe drought stress conditions (stem wet weight in the first stage) were entered into the model and the model was significant at the level of 1%. Path analysis showed that stem wet weight in normal conditions, stem dry weight in moderate stress condition and stem wet weight in severe stress condition had the highest direct and positive effect on leaf yield. Therefore, the most important traits as a selection index for improving leaf yield werestem fresh weight, leaf number, leaf length and width, respectively. Manuscript profile

The study of embryonic and endosperm development in different plant species is important from a phylogenetic and systematic point of view. The aim of the present study was to investigate the histological evaluation of seed development in Tribulus terrestris L. by microscopic analysis. Samples were studied at different developmental stages after fixation by different histological techniques. The results showed that the ovules were anatropous, bilayer and axially placentation. Endosperm was observed in the early stages, which was a nuclear type that changed to a cell type during embryonic development. In the latest stages, remnants of the endosperm were observed as a net-like structure around the cotyledons. According to histological studies, divisions occurred faster in the basal cell than in the apical cell. The suspender was completely degenerated during the torpedo embryo stage. According to cyto-chemical studies, accumulation of starch grains in the seed coat was observed in the early stages of embryonic development. Moreover in the mature embryo, storage components contained protein bodies and lipid compounds. The seed coat consists of two layers, the outer layer of which contains calcium oxalate crystals. Fluorescent microscopic analysis showed that a cumulative lipid nature of waxes was observed in the grain. It seems that the study of features such as the pattern of organ formation in this plant can be effective in understanding the heterogeneity between species of the Zygophyllaceae family. By the end of the eighth week, the sciatic nerve index (Hot Plate test), the healing process of the cell therapy group with chicory extract was more evident to other groups. Conclusion: Cord blood cell transplantation repairs sciatic nerve and chicory extract along with umbilical cord blood cells accelerates sciatic nerve repair. Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of central nervous system and commonly used as an animal model for multiple sclerosis (MS). Multiple sclerosis is a disabling neurodegenerative disease in human being. Inflammation is a key event in both EAE and MS, which leads to demyelination and subsequent disability. It is shown that Crocus sativus L. stigma (saffron) extracts have anti-inflammatory activity in rats and mice. There are modern pharmacological evidences for anti-tumour, chemopreventive and genoprotective effects as well as radical scavenger properties of saffron extracts or its constituents. We observed that both therapeutic doses of dexamethasone and methanol extracts of saffron stigma at 100 mg/kg and more prevented EAE from progression significantly in pMOG-immunized female C57BL/6 mice. Aqueous maceration extract of Crocus sativus L. did not prevent EAE progression. These results suggest that saffron may attenuate symptoms of EAE by its anti-inflammatory activity. Experimental data analyzed by one-way ANOVA. Manuscript profile

Basil is a medicinal herb and also a vegetable. Water and soil salinity is one of the major non-living stresses that reduce the growth and productivity of agricultural products all over the world. More than 800 million hectares of land around the world are saline and alkaline. In this experiment, five genotypes of basil (Iranian purple, black, ablaq, green and fiery red) were used as a split plot based on a completely random design with three replications, the main factor of which is salt stress at three levels (normal, medium stress and severe stress). and sub-factor including genotype (5 levels) were studied in pots and under greenhouse conditions in the crop year of 2023 in Kerman University of Advanced Education. The results showed that all the basil cultivars had the ability to withstand the salinity stress of 75 mM sodium chloride (moderate stress) and the values of vegetative and physiological characteristics were slightly reduced compared to the control treatment in such a way that no significant difference was observed in many cases. Application of salinity stress with the intensity of 135 mM sodium chloride (severe stress) caused the vegetative and physiological characteristics of all basil cultivars to decrease significantly and also at this stress level, the fiery basil cultivar was completely destroyed. In general, it can be stated that the basil cultivars used are highly sensitive to the level of more than 75 mM of salinity stress, and under salinity conditions, their vegetative and physiological characteristics are significantly reduced.
