Abstract :
This study was conducted for investigation of food attractants Betaine and Methionine in diet for growth, and survival of Indian White Shrimp (Fenneropenaeus indicus) in Bandargah fisheries research station in autumn 2003. Seven types of diets consisted of; control diet ( without Betaine and Methionine), diet with 0.5 and 1.5 percentage of Betaine, 0.5 and 1.5 percentage of Methionine, 0.5, and 1.5 percentage of Betaine and Methionine mixture and Havorash commercial diet, with three replications that were used in this trial. Indian White Shrimp juvenile with mean weight of 0.95 ± 0.05gr have been cultured for 60 days in 300 liter fiberglass tanks that were filled with 200 liters water and stocked with 15 shrimp juveniles. Results showed that type of diet was significantly (p < 0.05) effected on FCR index. The maximum SGR, lowest FCR, and lowest price index observed in diet with 1.5 percentage of Methionine. According to the obtained results, it can be suggested that the most suitable diet contains food attractants for feeding of Indian White shrimp is diet with 1.5 percentage of Methionine.
