In the current study vandalism and its relationship with social capital in the family and social capital in school was investigated using the social capital theories of Pamela Paxton , James Coleman , Darlene Wright and Fitzpatrick and the socialbond theory of Hirsch’s. The research method is survey and the statistical population consists of 3014 high school male students of Nour Abad city (Lorestan province) studying in academic year 2010-2011. 340 students were selected from 12 high schools by Cochran’s sampling formula and randomly systematic method. The researcher used self-made questionnaire to measure dependent and independent variables. Findings indicate although most of students live in city (%70.6) rather than in village (%29.2), their fathers mostly have blue-collar jobs and diploma level educations. Their mothers are unemployed (housewives) and uneducated and most of families have low income. Sixty Six point one (66.1 %) of respondents showed vandalism during the within last 1 year. In two indexes of family and school social capital, forty eight percent (48 %) of respondents announced their social capital as high or very high , thirty percent (30 %) low and very low. The degree (extent ) of correlation between vandalism and social capital in family index was point twenty eight (.28 ) , while correlation between vandalism and school capital in school was point twenty nine (.298).finally , according to multiple regression analysis , two factors of “family support “ and “ belonging feeling and dependency to school” explain % 12 of vandalism changes. Therefore, it can be said that the more family and school social capital and more of the above - mentioned factors, the less vandalistic behavior of students.   Manuscript profile
