          Purpose: This study examines the Quality assessment of the public libraries services in public libraries of Ramsar and Tonekabon cities by using LibQual tools from the viewpoint of users. Methodology: In this survey, for collecting data we use LibQual questionnaires. This questionnaire is standard tool that assess quality service from the viewpoint of users. The statistical sample of this survey is 410 users of public libraries of Ramsar and Tonekabon cities (in study period) and the questionnaires were distributed between them. 382questionnaires were returned and after omitting incomplete questionnaires 365 questionnaires were analyzed. Findings: Findings indicate that the level of service received by users Is more than the minimum level they expect in some more items from the minimum level is expected,but Most of them have not met their expectations.The findings showed that the libraries in the information control are weaker than the other dimensions so that their minimum expectations are also not met in using their resources. their resources are not met minimum Conclusion: In addition To quality assessment of the studied libraries in two cities, there has been also meta-analysis of studies in the field of quality of services in public libraries that have been done in other cities.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: The present research aimed to investigate the Information needs of student of Geography College of Tehran University and the role of the library to supply them. Methodology: Research methodology was descriptive study and conducted by questionnaire. Research population was about 814 students, and the sample was 173 students. SPSS was used for statistical analyses.  Findings: Demographic features and subfield were identified. Findings indicated that the main purpose of the students for library use was doing homework 68.8%, and maximum use of the library, with a weekly rotation was 52.6%. The sample studied in the library during a week about 6.9 hours, and 41.6% of the statistical community uses the library for book loan. The first purpose of 50.3% of them is accessing information through computer. Conclusion: The most rate of users’ satisfaction was to meet their information needs in the collection of Persian books and the least one was reported Latin journal section. It was revealed that using internet and electronic resources were the important resources to supply their information needs.           Purpose: Home page is a gateway website to enter its content. Hence, the correctness of its structure is very important. In this information highway, the website of university library is very important to search general and special information. The aim of this research is to analyze structural and content features of home pages (in the university libraries web site of Asia and Iran top universities. Methodology: The method of this research is survey one and its type is content analysis. It is a researcher made check list as a research tool. The population consists of the libraries web sites of ten top universities which include respectively(Tehran university, Isfahan university of medical sciences,Isfahan university of technology,Ferdowsi university of Mashhad, Tehran university of medical sciences, Sharif university of technology, Fars university of medical sciences, shiraz university, Mashhad university of medical sciences and Amir Kabir university of technology ) and ten top universities in Asia (Tokyo university, national Taiwan university, Kyoto university, university of Hong Kong, university of Tsukuba in Japan, national university of change king, Kan university, the Chinese university of Hong Kong, Tsinghua university and Nagoya university. Findings: show that the structural feature of the most libraries web sites in the top universities is the same. There were three differences in content features including the introducing the libraries future programs (p=0.02), Reservation services and the attachment of library loan service. There were not considerable differences between the studied websites in content categorizing and reference to electronic resources. Conclusion: There were not structurally meaningful differences among the websites. In comparison among the Iranian websites and Asian ones, the Iranian websites are weak in search engines in the first page and the lake of “subject union catalogue”.         Purpose: The purpose of this study is Evaluation of reliability of Bradford law and Lotka law, two of the main and basic rules of scientomerics, In terms of current information, in order to test the frequency distribution of scientific productivity of authors and the scientific Production of them in journals. Methodology: This study is descriptive - analysis and scientomtrics indicators have been used. For data analysis with Lotka law, the number of productions of authors was calculated. Then, to ensure results and confirmed the results mentioned, LOTKA software was also imposed. In order to test data on Bradford's law, this law was also used. Findings: The results showed that the scientific production of authors in the field of geology during 1990 to 2010 is not confirmed by Lotka law and the law was not dominating in this study. While in reviewing of Bradford law, the results indicates that Bradford is confirmed for the scientific outputs of authors is in the period of study. Conclusion: The results showed that in the test Lotka law with scientific outputs of authors in the field of geology during 1990 to 2010, this law was not approved. It seems that with the changes in co-authorship of scientific outputs, this law is not dominant and requires further investigation, so as a general principle, at all times, be used. In reviewing Bradford law, the results show that this law has been confirmed in the scientific outputs of the authors in the field of geology in the period of study. whereas the authors are used as subjects of the articles. In other words, the greatest number of authors (as topics of articles) has produced the lowest number of scientific outputs that these documents are the core documents and by the greatest participation of authors have written.   Manuscript profile

          Purpose: Nowadays, with the recovery and use of scientific resources, information literacy as one of the dimensions based on the use of new technologies such as databases, digital libraries and data recovery software, it is imperative for researchers. The purpose of this study based on the skills of graduate students in the use of scientific information in Boroujerd databases and digital libraries during 1390-91. Methodology: The sample volume was selected 303 students by stratum random method. The tool for collecting information is a verified questionnaire with validity 0.84 and reliability 0.83 percent. Results: In order to analysis the information, the frequency percentage descriptive statistic method and inferential statistic method t-test were used. The studied students 'skills in usage and application in information advanced search was in average2.77%., citation databases (1.23), full text databases (2.26), were lower than average level (3) that reveals weakness in the information literacy skills.         Purpose: It is a comparative investigation of Kurdistan public libraries with IFLA standards. The findings of this paper can assist library officials and managers to identify information and knowledge demands of public library users. It can also provide resources through identification of public libraries' weak points and shortages that can help libraries' management for future planning. Methodology: A descriptive approach was considered and all the data were collected through questionnaires, observation and telephone interview with library officials. Findings: Results derived from data analysis in this paper indicated failure in different aspects of public libraries of Kurdistan cities such as physical space and building, library complexes and the number of visitors. Public libraries of Kurdistan cities are below the level of IFLA standards in terms of specialized man power. As mentioned earlier, general results of this research showed that public libraries in Kurdistan are below the level of IFLA standards. For that reason we have provided some proposals for improvements of these libraries. Conclusion: Development and promotion of knowledge and mental aptitude of society is the core objective of public libraries as social and cultural institutions. To gain this objectives development of libraries and free of charge services are of high importance.           Purpose: This study is conducted to evaluate the digital library services quality in Broujerd Azad University, based on the user’s view. Methodology: This study is functional regarding its purpose and it is survey-analytical, regarding its nature. This statistical group consisted of university teachers and some students who were studying in MA level in mentioned university. They are 108 people, according to Morgan table. Data is gathered by the survey prepared by researcher. In this survey, digital library services quality is evaluated in two aspects of interaction human and technology and also technical aspects according to 12 elements of Digiqual model (individual convenience, trustworthiness, beneficence, capability, availability, validity, accuracy, ability to search, active connection, scope and sequence, ability to browse and reformation). Findings: According to users’ viewpoints, results show that individual satisfaction and thescope of the subject of the libraries is in average level and trustworthiness, beneficence,capability, validity, accuracy and reformation is upper than the average and availability, ability to search and active connection is lower. Conclusion: It was conducted that, library in the issues of trustworthiness, beneficence, capability, validity, accuracy and reformation Can achieve upper level than average and has a better operation, whereas, In the issue of individual convenience, scope and sequence has average operation, and availability a ability to search and active connection is lower and weaker than other cases.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: this research examines the impact of on-service training on job skills of public libraries' staff in Tabriz and Variables affecting on it. Methodology: descriptive survey method was used. Required data has been collected through questionnaire with using Likert scale. There have been some hypotheses which have been designed on the basis of existing variables. Also interviews, office regulations, phone reports, and visiting public libraries in Tabrizand Major offices of public libraries of the East Azarbayjan were considered. Statistical society in this survey includes all staff of 18 public libraries which have completed their on-service training. 96 questionnaires were distributed among staff and after completion, only 50 of them were usable which were analyzed using Excel 2007 and SPSS17. Findings: From total number of respondents 56% of respondents agreed with the analysis of labor issues, 38% of them agreed with the opportunities and facilities are used properly, 60% of respondents agreed to increase staff skills in providing services, 48% of them agree with the initiative, 50% of agreed with the increased interest in respect of employee services, 44% of respondents agreed with the staff in decision making and accelerate, 48% believed on- service training should be based on solving the real problems inside the libraries. Conclusion: According to the results of T-test, the hypothesis of this study (The by on-service training increases job skills.) the hypothesis was confirmed.   Manuscript profile
