Abstract :
Every year, a large number of organizations, cities, and countries announce their readiness to host sports events; although , this small number can bring extensive benefits to the host. The overall goal of the study is to identify the consequences of hosting international sports events in Iran. For this purpose, the researcher collected thematic literature using books, magazines, and websites to compile thematic literature. The method of conducting the present study is a qualitative method that used the grounded theory (grand theory) method presented by Strauss and Corbin to build the conceptual model of the study. The statistical population of this study was 15 experts and key informants, including university professors who also had administrative experience in the country's sports. The findings of this study were obtained through inferential statistics of the grounded theory method. In this method, using the open coding technique, 100 initial concepts were determined, which were classified into 46 subcategories and were categorized around 3 main categories in the axial coding stage. The results of the qualitative data obtained from the interview provide a paradigmatic model for identifying the consequences of hosting major international sports events in Iran, consequences (3 categories). The results obtained showed that individual consequences, organizational consequences, and social consequences are the sources of the axial category, including the consequences that experts stated. Creating a strategic plan that includes infrastructure development, sustainable financing, and promotion of sports culture can be an effective step towards achieving the goals of hosting international sports events in Iran.
