Abstract :
Abstract Objective: This study aimed to predict craving beliefs of drug use based on psychological distress with the mediating role of self-efficacy in men abusing methamphetamine. Methods: In this descriptive-correlation study with the structural equation method, out of all methamphetamine-abusing men aged 20-65 in 1400-1401, 262 people were selected by convenience sampling and completed questionnaires about craving beliefs (Beck and Clark, 1993), depression, anxiety-stress (Lovibond & Lovibond, 1995), and general self-efficacy (Sherr et al., 1982). Data were analyzed using the structural equation method and SMARTPLS-3 software. Results: Self-efficacy mediates the relationship between psychological distress and craving beliefs (P<0.05; B=0.093 and the causal model of craving beliefs based on psychological distress has a good fit with the mediating role of self-efficacy in male methamphetamine abusers (P>0.05). Conclusion: In the long term, the weak self-efficacy of people causes psychological distress in the control of addiction withdrawal, causing the influence of craving beliefs on the continuation of substance abuse.
