Organizational culture in public administration (Case Study: ministry of cooperatives)

Abstract :
Introduction and Purpose: The purpose of this survey is to evaluate four dimensions of Denison`s organizational culture model in ministry of cooperatives in Iran. Method: we used descriptive statistics and standardized questionnaire devised by Denison (2000) to evaluate four cultural traits believed to be the most influential factors in organizations performance Findings: Based on data gathered from 102 employees of ministry’s Headquarter the results show the highest indices in both consistency and mission and lowest indices are in involvement and adaptability. Conclusions: It is the first time that this study has been conducted in Ministry of cooperatives. While shared value of an organization (culture) is as Denison believed glue that holds the entire system together. So, this survey could have an important contribution to planners and managers in that respected organization. Practical implications – management and policy makers in this organization must pay more attention to these cultural traits: involvement and adaptability as weak point and consistency and mission as strong points.
