Explanation of retention rates based on the types of student interaction in the e-learning context

Abstract :
The aim of this study was to explain the retention rate based on the types of students ' interaction in e-learning.The current research is descriptive and applied in terms of purpose and population of this study is composed of all engineering students of Mehr Alborz Institute of Higher Education who were selected according to Cochran Formula 232 for sample.The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire, whose validity was confirmed after the experts ' survey and its reliability was estimated by using Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.86. The results showed that the highest retention rate was related to IT engineering (0.86 %) Moreover, the lowest retention rate was related to e-commerce Engineering (0.18%). In general, the rate of retention at the Mehr Alborz Higher Education Institute was 0.72%.. The results showed that the highest and lowest retention rates were related to ICT-Information Systems Management and E-Commerce Engineering respectively and among the various interactions in this context, student interaction with assistants was of the highest importance
