Relationship between Transformational Instructional Leadership on Teacher Professional Learning: The Mediating Roles of Trust in Manager and Teacher Self-Efficacy (Elementary Schools in Region 12 of Tehran)

Abstract :
Purpose:The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between transformational leadership and professional learning with the emphasise on the mediating roles of trust in manager and self-efficacy.
Method: The statistical population includes teachers’ elementary schools in the region 12 of Tehran consisting of 1055 teachers, based on Morgan's table, 326 teachers were selected by stratified sampling. The data collection tool is a standard questionnaire consisting of transformational leadership Bass and Avolio, professional learning Li &et al., Trust in managers Hoy and Tschannen-Moran and self-efficacy questions Liu & et al. Research hypotheses were investigated by Structural Equation Modeling and Sobel test.
Findings: Based on the results of inferential statistics, there are positive and direct relationships between components of transformational leadership and the components of professional learning, between components of transformational leadership and trust in the manager, as well as the components of transformational leadership and self-efficacy; There is a positive and direct relationship between trust in the manager, as well as self-efficacy and components of professional learning; Trust in the managers has a mediating role in the relationship between transformational leadership and professional learning, but self-efficacy does not play this mediating role in this relationship.
Conclusion: Transformational leadership can create a foundation for teachers' interest in improving their professional skills and self-efficacy, and create an atmosphere of trust and respect in the educational environment.
