Abstract :
Speech act is one of the important topics in the pragmatics and linguistic philosophy in which the researcher in his/her analysis gives the most role to discourse in context. This paper aims to shed light on the dominant discourse of Hafez's lyric poems. It also shows how the poet, in the position of a social critic, for inspiring his views to the audience has used various verbal methods and speech act to convey his views to the audience. The study of the speech acts of Hafez's lyric poems to discover the dimensions of his belief system has research importance. It is assumed that the dominant discourse and the distinguishing feature of Hafez's lyric poems is RENDY'S discourse, and it tells about the poet's ideology and the way he communicates with the institutions of power. For this purpose, we acted on topics related to speech act theory centered on the Five maxims of John Searle, and analyzed the data extracted from DIVAN in statistical-descriptive methods. The results of the research indicate that Hafez in producing his discourse, has used integrated acts and different methods of reasoning, including imperative, persuasive and persuasive to better influence the audience, to invite them to the world of their beliefs Also, the dominant discourse in this poet's lyrics is RENDY’S one.
