Review of words and terms related to palm and palm farming in Jahormi dialect

Abstract :
The vocabulary of a language and dialect is related to the lifestyle, geography and environment of its speakers. Jahrom is a city in the southwest of Iran and Fars province, which was called the palm forest in the past because of its abundance of palm trees and groves. Due to the many uses of the palm tree and its components in the daily life of the people of Jahrom, this tree has been included in all branches of culture, including language, traditions, people's beliefs, etc., which often have mythological roots. According to the results of this research, most of the Jahormi words and terms about palm trees and palm cultivation are Old Persian, and the Arabic words in them are few and far between. 45% of these words have the letters p, g, zh and ch(č). This research also collected 195 words and terms of palm and palm farming in Jahrom in the form of documents and fieldwork and divided them into seven categories: local palm types, palm components and their states, matters related to palm farming, built tools, related jobs, pests and It has categorized diseases and food products. Since these words are one of the important manifestations of popular culture in Jahrom, its analysis helps to know the mental and psychological backgrounds of the people of this city.
