Transformation of Myth in the Hossein Monzavi’s Sonnets

Abstract :
Hossein Monzavi (d. 2004 A.H.) is one of the poets who, with his modern language and the changes he has created in the lyric poetry, is also considered as one of the innovators in this genre. One of the prominent features of Monzavi’s lyric poems is the use of myths, especially national and epic myths. The way of use myth and selection of the characteristics of these myths, indicating the importance of that aspect according to the Monzavi’s opinion; However, elements of common myths are also prominent in Monzavi’s sonnets. Writers try to answer the fundamental question with a descriptive-analytical method based on the text of Monzavi’s lyric poems: how and by what means the Monzavi uses another structure of mythical allusions in his lyric poems? They try to discover and argue the combination of myths has caused the breaking of time and place in isolated sonnets, and this function is to recreate myths and reproduce historical and fictional narratives in a new context and has led to new semantic and capacities in Monzavi’s poetry. Changing the function of myths in the application of religious myths in lyric poetry or mystical myths in national poetry, combining myths with nature, turning myths into conceptual metaphors, forming new surrealist fantasies and the idea of evolution through his special attention to the work of idioms, which is considered as an Monzavi’s modernist technique in the application of narrative and mythological elements.
