Investigating the relationship between antecedents and consequences of cultural competence (Case study: public hospitals in Urmia)

Abstract :
Abstract Background and purpose: One of the most important duties of doctors and nurses is to provide quality care to patients of any ethnicity and culture, so providing such care requires cultural competence. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the relationship between the antecedents and the consequences of cultural competence in public hospitals in Urmia. Research method: The current research is developmental-applied. The statistical population includes doctors and nurses of public hospitals in Urmia city. For sampling, Sample Power 3 software was used and the sample volume was estimated to be 300 samples. The reliability of the questionnaires was confirmed through Cronbach's alpha tests, and the composite reliability and validity were confirmed through the convergent validity test. Binomial test was used to analyze the data. Findings: The results of this research showed that the variables of cultural diversity with a path coefficient value of 0.706, cultural inclination with a path coefficient value of 0.175, cultural encounter with a path coefficient value of 0.046 and cultural humility with a path coefficient value of 0.379 have a significant relationship. and are positively related to cultural competence, also the variables of respect with a path coefficient of 0.315, job performance with a path coefficient of 0.360 and development of professional values with a path coefficient of 0.611 have a positive effect on cultural competence. Conclusion: Due to the importance of cultural competence in the field of health and its effect on the growth and development of the health system, it is necessary to improve the level of their cultural competence in order to communicate effectively with patients.
