    1 - Determination of Apparent and True Digestibility of Poultry by Product Meal in Broiler Chickens

    In order to determination of ileum apparent and true digestibility of two samples of poultry by product meal, an experiment was conducted with a total of 60 day-old broiler chicks, Ross 308 strain. Poultry by-product meal was prepared from two slaughter house in Alborz province. Samples were sent to laboratory for determination of chemical analysis. The birds received commercial broiler starter and grower diets from day l to 30. On day 30, sixty birds of uniform nearly some body weight (38±4 g) were allocated to twelve groups of five birds each and assigned to twelve cages. There were three dietary treatments, two diets containing two samples of poultry by-product meal (PBPM) and a nitrogen-free diet. Apparent digestibility values of the assay diet, using ileal contents, were calculated using chromic oxide as indigestible marker. True digestibility values were calculated using endogenous output determined by feeding a nitrogen-free diet. In day 42, birds were slaughtered by CO2 and ileum content was collected. Apparent and true digestibility of protein, Ca, P and metabolizable energy were calculated. Result showed there is difference between two samples of PBPM in chemical composition and nutrient digestibility. Apparent metabolizable energy (AME) and apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AMEn) in sample 2 were higher than sample 1 (3665±137.75 vs. 3241±2.85 and 3495±134.45 vs. 3111±1.50, respectively) however these differences were not significant in some cases. پرونده مقاله

    2 - Effect of Various Levels of Protein in Diet Based on Total and Digestible Amino Acids on Performance of Cobb Strain Broilers

    In order to study the effects of various levels of protein in diet based on total and digestible amino acids on performance and carcass traits of broilers, an experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design with 288 broiler chicks from Cobb 500 strain in 6 treatments, each treatment consist of 3 replicates with 16 chicks per replicate. Treatments were the diets as follow: 1) diet formulated based on digestible amino acids which has 1% less crude protein (CP) than Cobb 500 recommendation (2006); 2) diet formulated based on digestible amino acids with CP similar to Cobb 500 recommendation; 3) diet formulated based on digestible amino acids with 1% higher CP than Cobb 500 recommendation; 4) diet formulated with total amino acids with one level lower than suggested protein level in Cobb 500 recommendation; 5) diet formulated with total amino acids with suggested protein level in Cobb 500 recommendation and 6) diet formulated with total amino acids with one level lower than suggested protein level in Cobb 500 recommendation. The metabolizable energy was considered constant and diets were fed to birds during 42 days of experiment. Daily weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, breast meat yield and abdominal fat content were measured. At the end of experiment, 4 chickens (2 males and 2 females) from each treatment was randomly selected and killed and their carcasses were analyzed. Results indicated that formulating ration`s protein based on total amino acids for Cobb 500 broilers shows better performances than digestible amino acids. پرونده مقاله

    This study was conducted to determine the chemical composition and metabolizable energy of poultry by-product meal (PBPM) from two slaughterhouses in Iran. Samples were analyzed for dry matter, crude protein, ash, ether extract and gross energy. The amounts of calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, Magnesium, Iron, Manganese, copper and Zinc were determined. The apparent metabolizable energy (kcal/kg) (AME), apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (kcal/kg) (AMEn), true metabolizable energy (kcal/kg) (TME) and true metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (kcal/kg) (TMEn) were determined based on sibbald’s procedure. For this purpose, twelve 230-day old New Hampshire males were used. There was no significant difference (P<0.05) between kinds of metabolizable energies in samples. The standardized digestible amino acid content also determined. The highest and lowest amount belongs to leucine and tryptophan.
