Effect of pomegranate peel extract on oocyte shedding and intestinal pathology in experimental Coccidiosis of broiler chickens

چکیده مقاله :

Background & Aim: Coccidial infections cause significant economic damage to the poultry industry every year in different parts of the world, whether clinical or subclinical coccidiosis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare pomegranate peel extract with toltrazoril on the excretion of Eimeria oocytes and intestinal pathology. Experimental: In this study, 180 Ross day-old chicks were used. After inoculation of chicks with Eimeria oocytes at the age of 21 days and giving time to symptoms appear, treatment with the commercial drug tolterazuril (2 days) and pomegranate peel extract (7 days) at concentrations of 100, 200 and 400 ppm was started. and fecal specimens were counted. At the end of treatment period, stool specimens were randomly collected and examined for cecal oocyte excretion in chicks, and cecum specimens were tested for histological damage after treatment. Finally, histopathological slides and the statistical analysis of data were reviewed. Results. The results indicated a significant decrease in fecal oocyte excretion, reduction of coccidiosis-related pathological lesions, and elimination of parasitic life in the cecum, in the groups treated with pomegranate peel extract (400> 200> 100 ppm). In the infected and untreated group, cecal hemorrhage, necrosis and life stages of the parasite were observed. These symptoms were also observed mildly in the group treated with 100 ppm of extract. None of the mentioned symptoms were observed in the group treated with 400 ppm of the pomegranate peel extract. Recommended applications/ industries: According to the results of this study and also considering the side effects of drugs, pomegranate peel extract can be used as an adjuvant therapy to control coccidiosis in poultry.

چکیده انگلیسی:

مقدمه و هدف: آلودگی‌های کوکسیدیایی همه ساله در مناطق مختلف دنیا، چه به صورت کوکسیدیوز بالینی و یا تحت بالینی باعث خسارات اقتصادی زیادی در صنعت طیور می‌گردد. لذا هدف از این مطالعه مقایسه عصاره پوست انار در مقایسه با داروی تولترازوریل بر دفع اووسیت آیمریا و آسیب شناسی روده می‌باشد. روش تحقیق: در این مطالعه که از 180 قطعه جوجه یک روزه نژاد روسی استفاده شد، بعد از آلوده نمودن جوجه‌ها با اووسیت ایمریا در سن ۲۱ روزگی و دادن زمان تا بروز علایم و اخذ نمونه مدفوع جهت شمارش تعداد اووسیت ها در مدفوع، دوره درمان با داروی تجاری تولترازوریل (2 روز) و عصاره پوست انار (۷روز) با غلظت‌های۱۰۰ و۲۰۰ و۴۰۰ ppm، آغاز شد. در پایان دوره، نمونه مدفوع جهت بررسی میزان آسیب‌های بافتی حاصل از بیماری بعد از درمان، از روده کور به صورت تصادفی تهیه و به آزمایشگاه ارسال گردید. در نهایت، لام‌های هیستوپاتولوژی تهیه شده و نتایج آماری حاصل از تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها بررسی شدند. نتایج و بحث: نتایج بیانگر کاهش قابل توجه میزان اووسیت دفعی در مدفوع، کاهش ضایعات پاتولوژی ناشی از کوکسیدیوز و حذف مراحل زندگی انگل در روده کور، در گروه‌های تحت درمان با عصاره پوست انار (۴۰۰>۲۰۰>۱۰۰) بود. بدین ترتیب که در گروه آلوده شده و بدون درمان، در روده کور خونریزی، نکروز و مراحل زندگی انگل مشاهده شد. این علائم در گروه درمان شده با غلظت ppm۱۰۰ عصاره انار نیز به طور خفیف مشاهده شد. در گروه درمان شده با غلظت ppm ۴۰۰ عصاره هیچ کدام از علائم ذکر شده مشاهده نشد. توصیه‌ های کاربردی/ صنعتی: با توجه به نتایج به دست آمده از این تحقیق و نیز با در نظر گرفتن عوارض شیمیایی داروها، می‌توان از عصاره پوست انار به عنوان درمان کمکی جهت کنترل بیماری کوکسیدیوز طیور استفاده نمود.
