The aim of this study was to compare emotional processing and fear of positive/negative evaluations in the women with social phobia and normal women. The type of study was causal-comparative. The research sample consisted of 60 women with social phobia and 60 healthy women which were selected through stage cluster random sampling among women of Gorgan. To collect the data, Social Phobia Scale ( Conner et al.,2000), Emotional Processing Scale (Bakeret et al,.2007), Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (Weeks et al.,2008) and Fear of Positive Evaluation Scale (Leary,1983) were used. The results of multivariate analysis of variance indicated that women with social phobia have greater emotional processing and fear of negative evaluation and also lower fear of positive evaluation than healthy women (P˂0.001). The results of multiple regressions showed that the emotional processing and fear of negative-positive evaluations explain 57% of variance of social phobia in women with this phobia (p < 0.001). The findings have important implications concerning prevention, therapy and services of counseling for women with social phobia. Manuscript profile

Present study aimed to determine the effect of resilience training on anxiety components in primary school children. This study was quasi-experimental with a pretest and posttest design with a control group. The research population was male students referred to education counseling centers of 5 and 6 districts of Tehran city in 2019-20 academic years. The research sample was 40 people who were selected by available sampling method and randomly assigned into two equal groups. The experimental group trained 9 sessions of 60 minutes (two sessions a week) with the resilience training method and the control group didn’t received any training. Data collected with using the demographic information form and revised child anxiety and depression scale (Chorpita and et all, 2000) and analyzed by methods of chi-square and multivariate analysis of covariance in SPSS-21 software. The findings showed that the in the experimental and control groups didn’t significant difference in terms of educational level, age and education of parents (P>0.05). Other findings showed that resilience training reduced the components of separation anxiety, social phobia, generalized anxiety and obsessive-compulsive in primary school children (p < 0.05), but hadn’t significant effect on their panic (P>0.05). According to the results of this study, planning to use the method of resilience education is necessary to reduce anxiety of primary school children. Manuscript profile

The aim of this study was the Comparison of the effect of distress tolerance and social phobia on the rate of student use virtual social networks. The method of this study was causal-comparative. The statistical population was all high school girls’ students in Tehran city who were studying in the academic year of 2018-2019.A sample of 385 individuals was selected through Cochran formula and Stratified sampling. Data were gathered using the questionnaire of the use of virtual social networks, simons and gaher distress tolerance scale, and conner's social phobia questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the discriminant function analysis. The results of discriminant analysis indicated one significant component. According to the recognized component, regulation, absorption, evaluation related to distress tolerance and fear and avoidance related to social phobia had the highest ability to differentiate between two groups of students. Also, the majority of the students with high use of virtual social networks and the highest percentage of recognition (69.2%) were correctly distinguished from other students and 66/9% of the subjects in the two groups were classified according to the obtained function correctly. The results of this classification indicated the ability of these variables in distinguishing between students with Different rates of using virtual social networks. Based on the present results, distress tolerance and social phobia factors related to the use of social networks. Manuscript profile

In the present study, the effectiveness of humor training on reducing social phobia symptoms in students was examined. The research method was quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest design with control group and follow-up in 2 months. From a population of male students attending an education counseling center, after preliminary interviews, 30 students who had higher score (according to standard clinical cut-off point) in Social Phobia Inventory (Connor et al, 2001) were selected. The participants were randomly assigned to the experimental (n =15) and control (n =15) group. The experimental group received humor Training (McGhee, 2004) for 8 consecutive weeks in 80 minutes and the control group received no training in this period. The analysis of variance with repeated measures was done for analyzing the pretest, posttest and follow-up data. The results showed that humor training can lead to a reduction in the total score of social phobia and also its subscales such as fear, avoidance, and physiological discomfort. Additionally, the stability in the post-test scores at the follow-up stage was found Manuscript profile

This research explored the role of perfectionism and parenting styles in explaining students’ social phobia. A sample of 396 students (215 females and 181 males) from GuilanUniversity responded to Baumrind’s Parenting Styles Questionnaire (1973), Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (Frost, Marten, Lahart, & Rosenblate, 1990), and the Social Phobia Inventory (Connor, Davidson, Churchill et al., 2000). The findings based on Pearson correlation showed that social phobia was positively correlated with authoritarian parenting styleand with two dimensions of perfectionism including “concern over mistakes” and “doubt about actions". Social phobia was negatively correlated with authoritative parenting style and parental expectations (a dimension of perfectionism). Implications are discussed in terms of interactions of parenting educational consequences and parents' personality characteristics on children's mental health. Manuscript profile

Social phobia is one of the significant psychological disorders. Focused attention on self, selective biases in relation to attention, interpretation, memory, and social judgment are the main elements of this disorder. It seems that patients with social anxiety disorder are inclined to shift the focus of their attention on the internal aspects such as motivation, behavior, thoughts, emotions or their appearance in social situations. The aim of this study is to compare the focused attention on self or others, and partiality in judgment in patients with symptoms of social phobia and non-patient individuals. Therefore, in a comparative study, 50 patients with social phobia and 50 non-patient individuals were selected through screening method from Tabriz University’s students. The subjects were evaluated in terms of social phobia, focus of attention and partiality in judgment. Multivariate analysis of demonstrated significant differences between the two groups scores in investigated variances. Patients with social phobia attained higher scores in focused attention on self and partiality in judgment, and lower score in focused attention on others than non-patient subjects. It seems that, in social situations, patients with social anxiety focus their attention on self and tend to negatively interpret the circumstances and have biased judgment. Manuscript profile

Social phobia is a common anxiety disorders that is associated with decline or failure in academic performance due to withdrawal from peers and fear of their negative evaluation. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of group cognitive-behavioral therapy on the reduction of social phobia among male students. The study used a semi-experimental design with pretest–posttest, control group and follow-up. The study population consisted of male students in seventh and eighth grade in Tehran district 6, who were diagnosed with social phobia. Of this, 30 students were selected through convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (n=15). Subjects in both groups were evaluated for Social Phobia in three stages of pre and post intervention and follow up. The experimental group received eight sessions of group cognitive-behavioral intervention based on social phobia. The results of analysis of covariance by Spss showed that the level of social phobia was significantly reduced in experimental group compared to the control group, both in the posttest and the two-and-a-half-month follow-up. It could be concluded that group cognitive behavioral interventions can be used as an effective treatment method in reduction of social phobia among male students. Manuscript profile
