Background and Objective: In this research concentration and extent of soluble contaminants plumes caused by probable leakage of petroleum materials from Khoy Oil Products Storages and also transporting mechanism of pollutants by groundwater was investigated. Method: Groundwater flow model for a steady and transient state was simulated using MODFLOW-2000 code. Then, flow model calibrated and the aquifer hydraulic parameters were estimated. Flow model output and calibrated parameters were used for simulation of BTEX and MTBE transported by MT3DMS code. Three scenarios were considered to predict transporting of pollutants under various conditions. Findings: The model results suggest that the plume MTBE in the condition of continuous source will be distributed up to 774 meters whereas it will distribute about 108m far from the source if the leakage stops after three years. According to the model prediction, the extension of BTEX will be less than MTBE in the case of continuous leakage. Under condition of the second scenario (non-continuous release of the pollutants) the plume extension of benzene reach will be 126 meter after 10 years and it can reach to the nearest abstraction well in 8.5 years. MTBE plume size in this period reaches to 6 times of BTEX and will reach the well in 1.5 year. Discussion and Conclusion: Average velocity of contaminant distribution is about 5 to 6 cm per day. It is predicted that the MTBE plume reaches earlier to the first pumping wells related to BTEX. So maintenance of the Oil tanks and monitoring of the downstream groundwater is a necessity. Thermal remote sensing, as a branch of remote sensing science plays an important role in environmental studies. Thermal sensing is one of the new and low cost methods against ground surveys in remote areas, which provides valuable information from the study area to researchers in the shortest time. It is possible to prepare a surface temperature map to identify areas prone to geothermal and plant stress by using an infrared thermal band. Which provides the basis for further exploratory studies. In this research, we used the ETM + and ASTER sensors to map the vegetation anomalies using the NDVI index of Khoy city. And plant seasonal variations were examined. Two datasets, one in early summer 2002 and the other in late summer and fall 2002, were derived from Landsat 7 data. By calculating the LST for the ETM + sensor, in this study, changes beyond the normal seasonal changes were considered as thermal anomalies. Also, by calculating the surface temperature by ASTER data, the surface manifestations of these anomalies under dense vegetation were revealed. MODIS sensor images were used to validate LST calculated by ASTER sensor and NDVI and ALI were calculated using it. The results of the present study showed that the identification of geothermal regions has a good spatial correlation with plant stress in Khoy city. ETM + and ASTER sensors, due to their high resolution in the infrared thermal band, 60 meters and 90 meters, respectively, are suitable sensors for calculating the surface temperature and detecting thermal anomalies. Therefore, the image difference method in this study was not a suitable method and did not show good results. Manuscript profile

Nowadays, the consumption of meat and meat products in different countries varies considerably based on social, economic, and geographical differences. Meat and meat products are the most important sources of protein. This study aimed to investigate the possibility of unauthorized tissues in sausage products in Tabriz and Khoy by histotechnique. For this, 80 sausages samples with ≤ 55% and > 55% 55% meat content were collected (from January to March of 2015). For histological evaluation, the slides were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin. Based on results, in 87.5% of the samples, cartilage tissue with a high percentage was observed. Unauthorized tissues types such as glands, connective tissue, fat, skin, cartilage, bone, trachea, lung, bladder, parasite eggs, and intestine were observed. The presence of unauthorized tissues in most samples may reduce consumers' desire to use sausages. Consequently, there is a necessity for efficient control at the regional level by authority organizations. Manuscript profile

Escherichia coli is among the most important intestinal foodborne bacterial pathogens. The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of E. coli in traditionally-made ice creams at retails of Khoy city. Moreover, the antibiotic profile of the isolates was investigated. For this, during April to September 2012, 150 ice cream samples collected from markets and confectionery shops. The samples were analyzed for the presence of E. coli. Afterwards, the antibiotic susceptibility and resistance of the isolates was evaluated on 10 different antibiotic using Kirby-Bauer test.According tothe results, 31.33% (47.150) of the samples were found positive for E. coli. The results of antibiogram test indicated that the highest level of sensitivity was determined for ceftizoxim (80.85%), ciprofloxacin (78.73%), and ceftriaxone (74.47%), respectively. In contrast, the most resistance antibiotics were amoxicillin (95.74%), oxacilin (82.98%), kanamycin (61.7%), respectively. The results revealed that the prevalence of E. coli, as the indication of fecal contamination, in traditionally made ice cream in Khoy retails and the antibiotic profile of the isolates were noticeable. Iran has a long history in the production of various types of traditional cheese in different areas. Amongst, fresh and pot cheeses are very popular due to their organoleptic properties. The objective of this study was to isolate and identify Enterococcus spp. in traditional fresh and pot cheese. For this reason, 22 pot cheese and 28 fresh cheese samples were obtained randomly from the rural areas of Khoy city. Enterococcus species were isolated and identified by biochemical assays. Moreover, salt content and pH value of the cheese samples were determined. The results showed that 95.45% (21/22) of pot cheese and 89.29% (25/28) of the fresh cheese samples were contaminated with E. faecium, meanwhile the other Enterococcus spp. were not isolated. There was no statistically significant relationship between pH, salt and the occurrence of Enterococcus. It could be concluded that the high occurrence rate of E. faecium indicated an unsatisfactory hygienic condition in traditional fresh and pot cheeses produced in Khoy. Manuscript profile

Sunflower is one of four main annual oil plants that cultivated in oil and nut varieties. This plant as an important and industrial food product and because of nutritional features and the potential for earning exchange has become a valuable product in foreign and inner markets and has a special position in agricultural sector. Khoy, by producing 40 percent of sunflower productions of country annually, is the greatest sunflower producer in Iran. The main purpose of this study is the analysis of the effects of inputs price liberalization on production of sunflower producers in this city. This study is according to a field research and cross-sectional data of 2009 have been used for it. Results show input price liberalization policy by increasing inputs prices and decreasing demand amounts of inputs, increases the production costs and decreases the production and totally it’s harmful for sunflower producers. For preventing negative effects of liberalization on production, adopting necessary policies such as merging small farms and making big ones to profit by economies of scale and increasing production and productivity with the resulted incomes from liberalization and spending them in scientific researches to produce with low costs are suggested. According to the statistics, surface irrigation system covers more than 95% of the country's lands and current efficiency of the system is estimated as less than 35%. Hence, the need for detailed understanding of surface irrigation efficiencies in the irrigated lands and presenting appropriate solutions to increase such factors are too important to measure and should be taken in line with optimal consumption of agricultural water which covers more than 70% of the country's available water. Hence, a farm was selected in Malajnood village area which was irrigated in furrow method and then was evaluated during the two phases of irrigation. The underlying tests were conducted using partial Parshall with input water flow of 3.66, 1.97L?S. Elliot7Wlker's two-point method was used to determine infiltration equation coefficients. The relationship between needed water and exact moisture distribution which was equal to 2 samples of irrigation indicated two cases of incomplete irrigation. Findings of the study indicated that deep percolation ratio was 23.33 and 45.63 and the irrigation adequacy was 100% that showed the high water losses and low water efficiency, but the full supply of plant water needed.
