Abstract :
Today, power grids are using renewable power plants for various reasons. Among these reasons are the environmental problems of fossil fuels and concerns about the depletion of their resources. Renewable power plants that have been used to generate electricity so far include wind, photovoltaic, tidal, wave, ocean thermal, and hydropower plants. In these power plants, their output power varies due to changes in wind speed, solar radiation intensity, tidal height and tidal current speed, wave height and period, ocean surface temperature, and river water discharge. In various studies conducted for the economic analysis, planning, and operation of power grids with the presence of various types of renewable power plants, it is necessary to obtain a suitable model for these power plants. Due to the change in renewable energy sources over time, the output power of these power plants also varies over time, and this model cannot be used for conducting various studies with large changes over time. Accordingly, in this paper, with the help of a suitable clustering method, the number of output power states in these power plants is reduced and a suitable model for these power plants is presented. In order to reach a suitable model of renewable power plants with variable output, different clustering techniques have been compared and among these methods, the fuzzy clustering method has been selected.
