The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of group therapy-based skill training on the difficulty in regulating emotions and self-compassion in depressed middle-aged married women aged 35 to 50 years. Semi-experimental research method of pre-test and post-test type along with control group during a period of two months in 2019 among depressed women who referred to the health center of district 1 of Tehran. They were randomly selected. Hope therapy training adapted from Snyder's book (2002) was taught to the experimental group in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Analysis of the findings using univariate covariance analysis showed that group training based on hope therapy increases self-compassion and reduces the difficulty in regulating emotions in the sample group. The results of the research indicate that women who have self-compassion and difficult skills in emotional regulation have more control over things, and the less psychological and emotional problems women have, the more satisfied they are with themselves.
