Effectiveness of Mothers' parenting training on reduction of affective - behavioral problems in preschool children 8 to 12 years old

Abstract :
The Aim of the present study was to investigate the Effectiveness of Mothers' parenting training on reduction of affective - behavioral problems in preschool children 4 to 6 years old. The Methods of present study was a quasi-experimental research and a pretest- posttest design with control group and follow up. The statistical population were included all mothers preschool children with affective – behavioral problems in the Babol city. Research sample consisted of parents of 22 children with affective- behavioral problem who volunteered to take part in the study and who were chosen by available sampling. They were divided randomly into an experimental and control group. The experimental group received parental training which was comprised of eight sessions during a two month period. The control group did not receive any intervention. Data was analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). research finding indicate that affective-behavioral problems of the experimental group was reduced significantly )P<0/034( more than the control group .follow up tests indicated the relative stability of the effects of parenting training program after three months (P<0/001). parenting training program is an effective method for reducing affective-behavioral problems in children. It is recommended that did counselors and psychologists administer parenting training program as part of treatment for reducing affective – behavioral problems of children.
