Cognitive therapy based on mindfulness is one of the methods of decreasing the stress among the patients and allows for less distressful perception of negative phenomena at the present time. Hence, the research purpose was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness training in decreasing the perceived stress among the patients suffering from breast cancer. Therefore, a sample of 30 women suffering from breast cancer hospitalized in Shohaday-e Tajrish hospital was selected through convenience sampling and assigned to the experimental and control group. Groups were tested with regard to mindfulness and perceived level of stress both prior to and subsequent to the treatment. The experimental group underwent eight one-hour sessions of group mindfulness training. Results of covariance analysis indicated that mindfulness training has been effective in decreasing the patients’ perceived level of stress. Therefore, this treatment can be employed both independently and along with other therapeutic methods like pharmaceutical treatment in the decrease of stress. Manuscript profile

Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. This method has produced positive effect on decreasing the stress and increasing the life quality among the patients suffering from chronic disorders. Hence, the present research aimed to assess the effectiveness of mindfulness in decreasing the stress, anxiety and depression among the substance abusers. Therefore, the research employed a semi-experimental method with pretest, posttest and control group design. A sample of 60 addicted individuals was randomly selected from the patients hospitalized in Shahriyar Province and Andisheh Rahayi centers for addiction treatment. Subsequently, they were assigned to the experimental and control groups and were assessed with regard to the stress, depression and anxiety prior to and subsequent to the treatment. The experimental group underwent eight, two-hour sessions of mindfulness therapy and the control group didn’t receive any therapeutic treatment. Multivariate covariance analysis indicated significant between-group difference between pretest and posttest scores. It can be concluded that mindfulness therapy is effective in decreasing the anxiety, depression and stress among the substance abusers. Manuscript profile

Spirituality therapy is defined as considering the patient’s spiritual beliefs in the process of therapy. Spiritual beliefs bring about specific experience and emergence of appropriate and responsible behaviors in individuals. The research purpose was to assess the effectiveness of spirituality therapy in decreasing anxiety, depression and distress of women suffering from breast cancer. Therefore, a sample of 29 patients suffering from breast cancer and hospitalized in Valiy-eAsr Hospital and Mehraneh Charity Center located in Zanjan was selected through convenience sampling and assigned to the experimental (15) and control (14) groups. The experimental group underwent eight 90-minute sessions of spirituality therapy, while, the control group received relaxation training. Both groups were tested in terms of depression, anxiety and stress, both prior to and subsequent to the training. Results of covariance analysis indicated that spirituality therapy is effective in the decrease of depression, anxiety and stress of women suffering from breast cancer. With regard to the results, it seems that spiritual intervention should be emphasized in a therapeutic package or at least a set of psychological interventions and applications in the treatment of breast cancer sufferers. Beck Anxiety Inventory is considered as one of the most commonly used assessment tools of anxiety and has been developed to assess both clinical and nonclinical anxiety. The research purpose is to carry out an investigation into the reliability and validity of beck anxiety inventory among the university students. Hence, in an analytical-cross sectional study, a sample of 600 university students studying in Arak Medical university was selected using stratified sampling and filled out Beck Anxiety Inventory. Data analysis indicated no significant between-group difference in terms of anxiety mean. The reliability coefficient using cronbach alpha was estimated to be .92.Five components was obtained using factor analysis which explained 58.54 percent of the scores of the inventory. Overall, the reliability and construct validity are indicative of the adequacy of Beck Anxiety Inventory in the assessment of the clinical anxiety. Manuscript profile

The present research purpose is to compare theory of mind, memory and executive functioning in obsessive-compulsive patients and normal individuals. Therefore, in a causal-comparative study, 40 individuals (20 patients diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and 20 normal individuals) were selected using convenience sampling and tested in terms of mind, memory and executive functioning. The results of multivariate covariance analysis (MANOVA) indicated the between-group difference in terms of the scores of mind, verbal memory, visual memory and executive functioning among normal individuals and patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Employing different strategies of cognitive emotion regulation produces significant effect on healing individuals in stressful situations. The present research purpose is to investigate the role of nine strategies of cognitive emotion regulation in the prediction of resilience. Therefore, in a descriptive correctional study, 300 university students (200 female and 100 male) were randomly selected from among Allameh Tabatabaei University and tested with regard to resilience and cognitive regulation. Results of regression analysis indicated that from among adaptive strategies of cognitive emotion regulation, positive reappraisal and refocus on planning can positively predict the resilience. Moreover, from among maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, catastrophising and other-blame can negatively predict the resilience. As results indicates, the strategies employed by individuals in order to regulate their emotions can play a significant role in the determination of their resilience and strengthening the adaptive cognitive emotion regulation should be regarded as therapeutic and educational goal in enhancing the resilience. Depression is the most prevalent disease among hemodialysis patients which can endanger the individual’s health and aggravate the illness. The research purpose is to determine the effectiveness of guided visualization and mental imagery in decreasing the symptoms of depression and increasing hopefulness among hemodialysis patients. Therefore, the research employed a semi-experimental method with pretest, posttest and control group. A sample of hemodialysis patients was randomly selected and assigned to the experimental and control group. All the individuals were tested with regard to hopefulness and depression prior to and subsequent to the intervention. The experimental group received 12, fifty-minute sessions of guided visualization and mental imagery; however, the control group didn’t receive any treatment. Covariance analysis indicated that there is significant between-group difference with regard to depression and hopefulness.
