In psychotherapy research, mindfulness has been conceptualized as a facilitator to enhance self-awareness thoughts in order to promote overall well-being. Mindfulness is a quality of consciousness that is targeted to paying attention to the present moment without judgment, and is related to many components of psychological health and well-being. The aim of this research is to identify the effect of mindfulness-based cognitive group therapy on improving overall well- being among high school female students in Varamin County in year 1394.For this purpose, in a semi-experimental study with pretest – posttest, and control group, 30 students who were identified as having poor overall well-being  were selected and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for eight ninety-minutes sessions and the control group did not receive any treatment. Data analyzing using multivariate analysis of covariance showed that there is significant difference between overall well being and its components (psychological, social, and emotional) in experimental and control groups (p<0/01), and that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy could promote overall well being among high school female students.  Manuscript profile

Anger, as a fundamental emotion is affiliated with threats and negative evaluation. Researchers have presented anger rumination as a construct related to anger and also that alexithymic individuals imply rumination as a way to regulate and manage their anger and negative emotions. The aim of the present study is to examine the effectiveness of written emotional disclosure on reduction of anger rumination among individuals affected by alexithymia. Hence, in a semi-experimental study with pretest-posttest, and control group, 130 male and female graduate level students at University of Tehran were selected through availability sampling method. A total of 30 participants having high scores on Toronto Alexithymia Scale were screened and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Participants in both groups were evaluated for anger rumination at the start and end of the study. A two-week program of written emotional disclosure (sis twenty-minutes sessions) was executed for experimental group. The control group received no intervention. Attained data were analyzed using univariate analysis of covariance with SPSS version 23. The results revealed reduction in anger rumination as a result of written emotional disclosure among alexithymic individuals. It is concluded that teaching of written emotional disclosure can be used to reduce anger rumination and its negative outcomes among general and clinical populations. Manuscript profile

Increasing prevalence and wide range consequences of depression indicate the necessity of investigating psychopathological factors associated with this disorder. Study of intermediary effects is a standard method for investigating pathological models. This study has examined the relationship between ambivalence over emotional expression and depression and the intermediary role of interpersonal problems in this relationship. Therefore, in a descriptive correlational study, a sample of 521 (420 female and 101 male) students from three universities in Tehran (Shahed University, Tehran University and Islamic Azad University- Tehran medical branch) in academic year 2015-2016 were selected through availability sampling method and evaluated by Ambivalence over Emotional Expression Questionnaire (AEQ), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), and Inventory of Interpersonal Problems (IIP). Path analysis method of the data revealed that only ambivalence over positive emotional expression is related to depression and aspects such as [difficulties in] assertiveness, sociability, and aggressiveness are the indications of intermediary role of interpersonal problems in this context. The significance of direct effect between ambivalence over positive emotional expression and depression is also demonstrating that [difficulties in] assertiveness, sociability, and aggressiveness are comparative mediators in the relationship of these two variables, and that there are other variables acting as mediators. According to this study, it is concluded that disturbance in interpersonal relationships is one of the mechanisms that link ambivalence over the expression of positive emotions to depression. Chronic pain is one of the important health problems that affect stress and anxiety. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between mindfulness and coping strategies in patients with chronic pain and compare it with non-patient individuals. In order to do so, in a descriptive correlational study, 140 patients with chronic pain and 144 non-patient individuals were selected through availability sampling method and evaluated for mindfulness and coping strategies via Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), and Lazaros & Folkman Coping Strategy Questionnaire (CSQ). The resulted data analyzed by Pierson correlation revealed that the relation between mindfulness and emotion focused coping strategies is negative and significant in patient with chronic pain group; while this relation is not significant in non-patient group. Furthermore, there is a positive and significant relation between mindfulness and problem focused coping strategies in both groups. Z Fisher test results did not show any significant difference between two groups in problem focused coping strategies. These results demonstrated that people using higher levels of mindfulness, both in patients and non-patients groups, use the problem focused coping strategies more often. It could be concluded that developing mindfulness from an early age can be used as a preventative approach in order to promote employing problem focused coping strategies compare to emotional focused coping strategies; an issue that could predict individuals’ mental health and overall well being. Rheumatologic diseases are often associated with a high prevalence of psychological disorders. In spite of the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in Iran, the role of psychological factors has not been evaluated among the population affected by this disorder. The aim of the present study is to predict depressive symptoms and sleep quality based on rumination and it's subtypes in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. To do so, in a descriptive correlational study, 75 patients with Rheumatoid arthritis referred to Hafiz rheumatology clinic at Shiraz University of Medical Science were selected through convenience sampling method, and assessed for style of response, quality of sleep, and depression. Research tools included Response Styles Questionnaire (RSQ), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Data analysis was performed coefficient of correlation and linear regressions were used to compare data. The results indicated that the rumination and its subtypes significantly predict the quality of sleep and depressive symptoms (p 0<01). Also, brooding was a better predictor than reflection to predict the sleep quality and depressive symptoms. Results confirmed that patients who are afflicted by chronic rumination are more likely to experience symptoms of depression and poor quality sleep. It may increase the complication of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Manuscript profile

Major depressive disorder is one of the main worldwide challenges of the century due to its widespread prevalence, fairly persistent nature, and impairing impact that it has on academic and job performance, interpersonal relationships, and economic, social, and human resources.. The present research conducted with the aim of studying the efficacy of integrated transdiagnostic treatment on reduction of major depressive disorder’s symptoms. In order to do this, a single case study with multiple baselines was implemented. Three patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder were selected by using purposeful sampling method through diagnostic and structured clinical interviews. The subjects underwent the treatment process subsequent to obtaining treatment requirements. Patients were evaluated in three phases of intervention (baseline, treatment, and follow-up) by Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II), and Work and Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS). Visual delineation, recovery percentage, and the effect size revealed that integrated transdiagnostic treatment elicits significant improvement both in clinical and statistical treatment objectives (symptoms of major depressive disorder and functioning impairment level), and that the treatment effect is continuous throughout the follow-up period. It could be determined that integrated transdiagnostic Treatment has appropriate efficacy on the reduction of major depressive disorder symptoms. Manuscript profile
