The Effect of Fordyce Happiness Training on Depression of Sponsorless Women in Isfahan

Abstract :
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Fordyce happiness training on the extent of depression in women without sponsors. Therefore, sponsorless women diagnosed as depressed by the physician and those pretested were randomly selected from among all the depressed women and assigned to two groups Training and Control. The Beck Depression Inventory and Oxford Happiness Scale were administered to all the subjects as the pre- and post-tests. A demographic questionnaire was also given to the subjects. Seven weekly sessions of happiness training, minutes each, were given to the training group. The control group did not receive training. The results of analysis of covariance showed that there was significantly more reduction in the mean depression scores of the training group than in the control group (P≤ ). Also there was significantly more increase in the mean happiness scores of the training group than in the control group (P≤ ). Therefore, the hypotheses of the research were confirmed.
