The effect of comprehensive school physical activity program on social skills of children with developmental coordination disorder

Abstract :
Movement skills allow the child to gain more control over her living environment. The present study was conducted with the aim of the impact of Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP) on developmental coordination disorder. The present study was semi-experimental of applied type with a pre-test and post-test design. The studied population was 9-12-year-old female students of Khorramabad city, among them 30 children who were diagnosed with developmental coordination disorder by the MABC-2 test were selected from six schools in the academic year ۱۴۰۲-۱۴۰۳ due to the research entry criteria. And they were randomly divided into two experimental groups (comprehensive school physical activity program) and the control group. The tools used for data collection are the revised version of the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire (DCDQ-7). Exercise programs were implemented in three time periods before school in two breaks at school and after school (with the presence of parents in Madras) for 8 weeks and 5 days each week. To analyze the data, correlated T-test and covariance analysis were used using SPSS version 19 software. The findings showed that 8 weeks of the school's comprehensive physical activity program had a positive and significant effect on the developmental coordination disorder. Developmental coordination disorder a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in fine and gross motor coordination that significantly affects a child's activities of daily living or school productivity. The results of this research were the improvement of social skills and quality of life with developmental coordination disorder following the CSPAP.
