Analyzing the impact of sustainable architecture on reducing the environmental impacts of urban buildings with a systematic HSE management approach

Abstract :
Introduction: Today, sustainable development is one of the most important topics in the world today in all fields, including construction, which is expressed as sustainable architecture or green architecture. On the other hand, one of the important principles in every industry is the health, safety, and environment sector, which is raised as HSE. Given that the perspective and viewpoint of sustainable development is expressed on the three principles of society, economy, and environment, there is a close connection between these two perspectives and principles. One of the effective approaches in this field is sustainable architecture with an emphasis on HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) principles. The purpose of the present study is to investigate "Analyzing the Effect of Sustainable Architecture on Reducing the Environmental Impacts of Urban Buildings with a Systematic HSE Management Approach."
Materials and Methods: The research method used in this study is a mixed type (quantitative and qualitative) and is applied in terms of purpose. The statistical population is the residents of urban buildings, especially in areas with sustainable architecture projects. Based on the simple random sampling method and using the Morgan table, 1,500 people were selected as the sample size of the study. The methods of data collection were through library, field and questionnaire and the data collection tool was a standard questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the research data, and structural equations were used with the help of SPSS software.
Results and Discussion: Analysis of the data obtained with SPSS software showed that the use of sustainable design elements with a significance level of less than 0.05, such as the use of renewable energy, optimization of resource consumption, waste management, and natural ventilation, has led to a significant reduction in environmental pollutants and increased resident satisfaction. Also, the implementation of HSE principles in the design and operation of buildings has played a significant role in improving the safety and mental and physical health of individuals. The findings emphasize the importance of integrating sustainability and HSE components in urban policymaking and architectural design.
Conclusion: Sustainable architecture is affected by reducing the environmental impacts of urban buildings and is a major factor in improving public welfare and reducing inequalities in urban communities. In addition, architects and designers should pay special attention to the different dimensions of sustainable architecture in the design process.
