Abstract :
After some time,, the production from the oil reservoir will decrease due to the pressure drop, and a large percentage of the oil will remain in the reservoir. Therefore, some methods are used to maximize oil recovery. During the recent decades, polymer flooding as one of the chemical methods to increase oil recovery has been widely considered by petroleum engineers. Due to the excellent performance of amphiphilic polymers, it is expected that these types of polymers will replace conventional polymers as a contributing factor in increasing oil mobility in oil recovery operations. In this research, the iso-viscosity method has been used to investigate the performance of oil displacement by betaine amphiphilic polymers with different hydrophobic groups in oil reservoirs. Also, rheometer and micromodel photography have been used to investigate the mechanism of oil extraction. The results show that there is a positive relationship between the type and content of hydrophobic groups and the amount of oil recovery. The difference in the amount of oil recovery depends on the difference in the visco-elastic properties of the polymer flooding system. The effect of this factor has increased the mobility of oil, which leads to an increase in oil production. This research examines the effect of these types of polymers on the amount of oil production and recovery in high salinity reservoirs.
