Abstract :
The present study aimed to compare the components of relational theory among individuals with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and those with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). The research employed a causal-comparative design. The statistical population consisted of 124 participants (65 with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and 59 with Major Depressive Disorder) who were clinically diagnosed and referred to the Razi Counseling Center in Alborz Province in 2022. Participants were selected using the convenience sampling method. Data were collected using Bell’s Object Relations Inventory (1994), and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used to analyze the results. The findings indicated a significant difference between the components of relational theory in the two groups (P < 0.001). Specifically, the components of social incompetence, insecure attachment, and alienation were significantly higher among individuals with Major Depressive Disorder compared to those with Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
