Abstract :
Introduction: As the world entered the 21st century, the phenomenon of information and communication technology has gained an undeniable role in most aspects of life, and this entry has been more meaningful in terms of education and training. The aim of the present research was to investigate the mediating role of the use of information and communication technology in teaching in relation to problem solving skills and academic performance of secondary school students in Darab city.
research methodology: The present study was applied in terms of purpose and correlational in terms of descriptive method. The statistical population includes students of the second secondary level of Darab city, whose number according to the statistics received from education is 2938 people (1750 girls and 1188 boys), which is based on the multi-stage cluster sampling method and according to According to Morgan's table, 340 people were selected as a sample. The data collection tools in this research included three problem-solving questionnaires by Hepner and Petersen (1982), the academic performance questionnaire by Pham and Taylor (1999) and the questionnaire by Abbasi Asl. Confirmed. Data analysis was done at two levels of descriptive and inferential statistics.
Findings: The results showed that problem solving skills and information and communication technology in teaching had a direct and meaningful relationship with academic performance and were effective in predicting it. By examining and comparing the regression coefficients from the first stage to the third stage, it can be seen that the coefficients have decreased from direct to indirect and according to the stated condition (significant reduction of direct coefficients after including the mediator variable), the main criteria It confirms the existence of a mediating effect.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that the mediating role of information and communication technology in teaching is confirmed in the relationship between problem solving skills and academic performance.
