The Study of the Relationship between the Organizational Health of Schools and the School Managers’ Performance in Maraqeh City

Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between the organizational health of schools and the school managers’ performance in Maraqeh city. In order to do this, the organizational health of the schools were defined based on the Parson’s Theory in three dimensions of organizational health at the structural level (structural unity), official level (manager’s consideration, structure creation, resource supply and influence), and technical level (spirit and scientific emphasis). Furthermore, three main hypotheses were designed along with seven more minor hypotheses. The research population consisted of 248 managers of elementary, junior high, and high schools. Because the population was limited, all the managers were considered as research subjects. The research tools were two questionnaires including the questionnaires of organizational health, and the managers’ performance which had 40 and 28 items respectively. In order to examine the reliability of the tools, the method of Cronbach’s Alpha was applied and the related indexes proved to be 0.91 and 0.95 respectively. The tools were administered to the research subjects after reviewing them for their desirable validity. The obtained data were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential methods of statistics. The results of study showed that there is not a meaningful relationship between the degree of health at the structural level of schools and the managers’ performance of all schools in Maraqeh city. However, there is a meaningful relationship between the degree of health at the official and technical levels and the managers’ performance of all schools in Maraqeh city.
