The Comparison of the Management styles of Government and Nongovernment Schools in Shahriyar Town

Abstract :
The purpose of the study was to compare the management styles of government and nongovernment schools located in the town of Shariyar. The population of the study consisted of 5842 teachers; all who were busy working in the government and nongovernment schools as teaching staff. The method of sampling was simple random sampling. The research tool was a researcher-made multiple-choice questionnaire with five options to be chosen from and 32 items. The reliability of the tool which was measured using Cronbach’s Alpha method proved to be 0.81. In order to analyze the gathered data, the methods descriptive and inferential statistics were used and the results showed that: 1) there is a meaningful difference between the imperious and benevolent styles of management in government and nongovernment schools from the teachers’ point of view. In other words, the managers’ style of both genders in nongovernment schools are more imperious, and benevolent than their colleagues in government schools; 2) there is a meaningful difference between the managers’ style of participation in government and nongovernment schools from the teachers’ point of view. In other words, managers of both genders in nongovernment schools have a more participatory management style than their colleagues in government schools.
