Training Needs Assessment of Mahab Godds (An Engineering Consultant) Company’s Managers and Employees in the Context of Knowledge Management

Abstract :
The Purpose of the research was to assess the training needs of Mahab Godds company’s managers and employees in the context of knowledge management in the year 2009. There were about seven particular questions which the research focused on. The research methodology for this applied-oriented study was field-type. Statistical population of the study covered all 1140 head office members of the company namely managers and employees. As a result of the application of stratified sampling, 120 persons out of 1140 were selected for the purpose of conducting the research. The required data for study were collected through employing and distributing a researcher made questionnaire, containing 36 items with 5 degree Likert scale. The validity of the content of the questionnaire was already approved by the study supervisors. The final reliability worked out to be 0.87 following the application of Cronbach’s Alpha method. For the purpose of data analysis, t test analysis as well as independent t test was applied using SPSS software. The findings showed that all managers and employees of the company needed training in six areas of the knowledge management including knowledge identification, acquisition, development, sharing and distribution, utilization, and finally retention. It was also revealed that, from the point of training needs, there was no difference between the managers and employees of the company in all six mentioned fields.
