Investigating the relationship between the self-esteem of educational principals and the tendency toward poisonous leadership

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the social self-esteem of educational principals and the tendency towards the toxic leadership style of schools. The population of this research consists of 25 high school principals who worked in the academic year of 1401-1402. Due to the small size of the population, all of them were selected as samples. Also, to measure the tendency towards toxic leadership style, 830 teachers were selected as a population, and 285 of them were randomly selected as samples. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and correlational in terms of data collection method, and data is collected in the field based on Coopersmith's Self-Esteem Inventory and Schmidt's Leadership Questionnaire (2008) and analyzed from descriptive indicators. And path analysis was done using SPSS. The results of the data show that there is a negative relationship between social self-esteem and toxic leadership. That is, the higher the social self-esteem of managers, the less they use the toxic leadership style, and the selection of educational managers should be based on scientific criteria and indicators so that the educational system is damaged less.
