Abstract :
Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between problem-solving strategies and critical thinking in the students of School of Railway Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology in the academic year of 2018-2019. This is an applied research and descriptive correlational method is used in current survey. The statistical population of this research includes all the students of the School of Railway Engineering. The total number of students are 760, which according to the Morgan's table for sample size 260 people are selected by random sampling method. The data gathering tool was Cassidy and Lang's standard problem solving questionnaire with Cronbach's alpha of 0.86 and for critical thinking variable of Critical Thinking Questionnaire (Ahmad Beigi, 1397) in which the reliability of the research questionnaire for each component was reported using Cronbach's alpha coefficient greater than7%and the reliability of the questionnaire in the research for each of the components using Cronbach's alpha coefficient was reported 81%. Pearson Correlation Method was used to analyze the data. The results of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between problem solving strategies and critical thinking.
