Abstract :
The aim of this study was to develop a model of Iranian NGOs’ participation in health policy-making. This applied study was qualitative in terms of the nature of the data and used interviews as a tool. Its statistical population was managers and experts in the field of NGOs. Sampling was done using the maximum diversity method and the total number of participants was 17. Purposive sampling was used to identify the sample size.
The results of the study showed that the indicators of Iranian NGOs’ participation in health policy-making were presented in the form of 8 categories: capacities and capabilities of NGOs, views and suggestions of NGOs, methods of NGO participation, policy content, barriers and limitations of participation, strategies for expanding NGO participation, the role of NGOs in innovation and transformation of the health system, and promoting capacity building and community empowerment in the health sector;
The final model of NGO participation in health system policymaking was four main parts: NGO participation in the policymaking process, factors affecting NGO participation in health policymaking, factors related to government organizations and the socio-political environment, policy type factors, community factors, barriers and limitations to NGO participation, and recommendations and strategies for expanding participation.
