Abstract :
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of implementing artificial intelligence (AI)-based education within school health programs and its impact on improving health literacy among elementary school students. The research is applied in nature and employs a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest structure, including control and experimental groups. The statistical population consisted of elementary school students in Rahimabad city (Gilan Province) during the academic year 2023–2024. A non-random, convenience sampling method was used to select 30 students from one school in Rahimabad. These students were randomly assigned to two groups: 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group. Initially, a pretest was administered to both groups. The experimental group then received health literacy training through AI-based tools over a full academic year (20 instructional sessions), followed by a posttest for both groups. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics. Inferential analyses included univariate and multivariate analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and Bonferroni post hoc tests. The increased adjusted mean scores in the posttest for the experimental group, along with significant differences in the health literacy components between the two groups, indicate that AI-based education had a meaningful impact on enhancing students’ health literacy
