The role of regional security and its impact on sustainable tourism with the CPTED approach and the Pervalong method, a case example: Bostan Abad city

Abstract :
The tourism industry plays a vital role in global income generation, and with its significant foreign exchange potential, emphasizing this sector can substantially contribute to a country’s gross national product. This research aims to investigate the role of regional security and its impact on sustainable tourism in Bostanabad City, using the CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) approach and the Prolong method. The study’s statistical population includes visitors to tourist attractions in Bostanabad, with a sample size of 350 individuals determined by Cochran’s formula. The research’s validity was confirmed by experts and specialists through a structured questionnaire, and the data analysis was conducted using the Prolong method. The results highlight the significance of access, supervision, territoriality, and support services based on the CPTED approach. Specifically, the index for valuable access and the criterion for supervision in Valiasr settlement scored 0.28, territoriality scored 0.625, and support services and amenities scored 0.5. The lowest score was observed in the supervision criterion, which included indicators like protective measures, neighborhood watch, the use of surveillance cameras, and police patrols. This weakness in supervision could contribute to social problems and anomalies in Bostanabad’s neighborhoods.
