Investigating Factors Affecting Childbearing, Population Policies and Their Consequences in Iran's Metropolises (Study Sample, Mashhad Metropolis)

Abstract :

The decrease in the interest rate in Iran, especially in the big cities, has become one of the main concerns of managers. But so far, no detailed and targeted study has been done in this area, especially in the big cities of Iran. In this study, Mashhad city was chosen as the study sample.  Because Mashhad is one of the cities with the lowest fertility rate. The main issue of interest was that, despite the low fertility rate in this city, the driving forces for increasing fertility in each sector are assumed to be completely the same. For this reason, policies are mainly focused on providing economic incentives. Therefore, the purpose of this descriptive and analytical review was to determine whether these incentives can achieve the desired goals? And basically, if only a certain group of people are considered, what are the consequences? For this purpose, a sample of 385 people was questioned. The results showed that the chance of not wanting to have children is related to various variables.  Especially the relationship between age (OR equal to 1.007), shorter length of marriage (OR equal to 0.92), living in high-income areas (OR equal to 2.18) and separated areas (OR equal to 0.85), with a confirmed belief. But the reasons for not being lucky to have children in low-income areas are economic; In middle-income areas, it is social motives, and in prosperous areas, it is cultural grounds. Because each group will produce generations with special characteristics (lack of cognitive security, hotel or nest generation); Emphasizing one factor and considering one group will increase the economic, social and health gaps.  And due to the fundamental change of the social structure, it will lead to many political, security and social crises.
