The Effectiveness of Creative Storytelling on Creativity and Problem Solving Ability of Preschool Children

Abstract :
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of creative storytelling on creativity and problem solving ability of preschool children was conducted. Research method was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with a control group. The study population included all preschool children (5-6 years old) in city of Yazd, that a sample of 30 subjects were selected by multistage cluster sampling and And randomly divided into two groups (n = 15) and control (n = 15). In both groups, pre-test was conducted and the experimental group and trial operation of creative storytelling and received 10 sessions and post-test for both groups. To gather data, the Tower of London and Torrance creativity questionnaire (picture form) was used. Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance. The results showed that creative storytelling significantly improves problem solving ability and creativity of preschool children. Based on our results, we can say, creative storytelling can be an efficient method to improve problem solving ability and creativity of preschool children.
