The relationship between Cost Stickness, Ownership Concentration and Corporate's Bankruptcy Risk

Abstract :

By governing the competitive situation on the financial markets, many companies go bankrupt and out of competition. This increases concerns for capital owners and other stakeholders. Bankruptcy risk occurs when the company does not have sufficient financial sources and cash to meet its obligations. A proper understanding of the cost behavior leads to the right decision-making. Awareness of the costs behavior of activity or sales level changes are important information for managers decision-making in planning, budgeting, product pricing, break-even point determination, and other management issues. The purpose of the present research was to examine the relationship between cost stickiness, ownership concentration, and bankruptcy risk of the companies. This research was conducted on 126 companies during the period 2017-2023. Research hypotheses were tested using EViews software. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between cost stickiness and bankruptcy risk. Also, there is a significant relationship between ownership concentration and bankruptcy risk of companies and ownership concentration has a significant effect on the relationship between cost stickiness and bankruptcy risk.
