Analyzing the link between language and power in the satirical poems of Abolqasem Halat using the approach of critical discourse analysis of Fairclough

Abstract :

Language impressionability from power relations is always accompanied by a kind of inherent tendency to get hidden. Revealing this process is the main theme of the approach that was presented by Norman Fairclough under the title of critical discourse analysis. Of course, in this field, reviewing the text as a platform for language crystallization was emphasized, At first, the analyst first analyzes the text using a systematic model, because he can analysis a text Systematically then after that he explains the relationship between the text and the social context which obtained by data, Therefore, he should pay attention to expended ideologies in a text to understand the relationship between data with power terms in social context. The results in this way, revealed that the authors of texts, sometimes reproduce power relations while accompanying the wishes of dominant groups, and sometimes, in addition to opposing them, by challenging these relations, they make it possible to change the discourse order and facilitate social change. Although the approach of critical discourse analysis is used in the examination of many texts, satirical texts are more suited to it by including critical views on social issues and power relations. Current article, it is done by using Library refrences in analytical-descriptive method to discover and review the link between language and power in Abolqasem Halat’s satirical poems by exploting from mentioned approach. Finally, the results show that the poet, while opposing the dominant discourse, by challenging the existing power relations in her contemporary society, helped create a change in the discourse order and facilitate social change.
