Abstract :

Abstract

Myth, along with epic, is one of the main components of the Shahnameh. Joseph Campbell examines the mythical hero in the light of modern psychology. That all legends and epics are connected to the human psyche and that they are cultural manifestations of a universal need. And they are cultural manifestations of the universal need to explain social, cosmic, and spiritual realities. The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of the hero and the archetype of the hero's journey from Joseph Campbell's perspective, using psychological theory.And where Ferdowsi's Shahnameh represents Ferdowsi's cognitive myth and wise insight، This feature makes it suitable for analysis from Campbell's perspective, which considers the moral principles of societies to be based on myth. This research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and library data.The most important result of the present study can be summarized as follows: Joseph Campbell's hero's journey model is suitable for analyzing the hero's journey in the Great Battle of Kaykhusrow, but some stages are similar Reject the invitation, seductive woman،Meeting with God Lady، And there is no magical escape in the hero's journey. The most important feature of this story, however, is the absence of a female character in the hero's journey.In this story, Kaykhosrow voluntarily embarks on a journey.
