One of the most influential literary types in the national literature is the epic, which has other functions in addition to the theme of war and combat. The epic is also seen in the poems of contemporary poets and is not limited to the ancient period. This type of literature is directly related to political and social events. A lot of research has been done on the epic, but the contemporary epic poets, due to being in the middle of the political and social events of their time, have always tried to create an epic in accordance with those events. In this way, they turned their struggles and resistance against tyranny into a kind of epic. The present study aims to analyze the flow of the epic in the contemporary poetry from Nima Yoshij to our days using the method of content analysis with a descriptive-analytical approach. According to the findings, there is an epic flow in the poetry of male and female poets, and it undergoes changes due to historical, political and social changes.
