An investigation of corticolous lichen diversity in Abqad (Razavi Khorasan)

Abstract :
Lichens as a part of natural sources, are fantastic symbiotic phenotypes including interaction between two ormore not relative genomes, one or two fungi, an alga and or a cyanobacterium. Lichens are found all over theworld except aquatic ecosystems. In spite of their tolerance to harsh environments, they are sensitive to humanactivities. Therefore, lichen identification in countrysides with tourism attractive has a major importance. Abqadvillage with combination of several waterfalls and a river with the same name has covered with fruit gardens; itis located in Darzaab of Razavi Khorassan province. In this research, corticolous lichens of the area werecollected. The identification of taxa was done on the base of the standard morphological, anatomical methodsand, current spot tests. Among the samples 17 species were identified. Lecanora albellula is presented as a newrecord for Razavi Khorasan province. The evaluation of corticolous lichens showed that the substrata have a highquantity of orange-red thalli of the family Teloschistaceae especially, in the two genera, Caloplaca andXanthomendoza. Also notable diversity of lichens with reduced thalli was found in cracks of periderm, some ofthese species belong to two genera including Lecania and Lecanora.
