Abstract :
The genus Annabasis (Amaranthaceae, Salsoloideae) comprises 10 species in Iran. 28 species located in differentparts of the world. Cytogenetic studies are important for plant breeding. In this study, using the tip of the rootmeristem of three species A. haussknechtii, A. aphylla A. and A. Setifera after the fixation, hydrolysis andstaining, microscopy sample preparation and chromosome morphology was studied. The results indicate that allthree species are diploid (2n = 2x = 18) and Stebbins classification method grouped all accessions in class A.Detailed karyotype analysis showed that the studied species are almost similar karyotype. A. aphylla has thelongest chromosome while A. Setifera has the shortest chromosomes.
