Abstract :
Karyological variation in eight populations of Bromus inermis were investigated by using aceto-iron-hematoxilinstaining method in the present work. The results showed that all populations were octaploid (2n=8x=56).According to Stebbins table method, all populations except for one, were located in class II; only one populationwas located in class 3B that indicate asymmetry in this population. The results also showed significantdifferences among the studied populations (p>0.05), that indicates some variation in sizes and symmetry of thispopulations. The indices of Centromere Variation Coefficient Index (CVCI) and Differences Relative Length(DRL) of chromosome showed no significant differences at the level of 1%. As a result, the karyological traitsused in this study were potentially useful in determination of symmetry and asymmetry of the karyotypes, butthe two traits, CVCI and DRL were powerless in this respect. Clustering analysis showed that the populationsdivided into two main clusters. The populations of Heydar-Abad and Fozveh71, with the least Euclideandistances showed the most similarities, and the populations of Ardebil and Mehdi Shahr, with the mostEuclidean distances, showed the least similarities among the all studied populations. Keywords: Bromus inermis, Chromosome, Cytogenetic variation, Karyotype.
